Default 2012 Updates.

Figured I'd share my winter adventures. Nothing major, just a new turbo locations and moving to air to water instead of the air to air. Thinking about putting a real mini-tub in it and pulling the tires in 3/4" a side. Moving along pretty well, I'm ~5 days into the project.

2011 setup








The start to 2012 "Mock up stage"







Making weld on bungs and "tabs" for IC mounting




Time to cut!!!!! Just rough cut for now, I'll be cleaning it all up down the road.



Fabbing up the new front structure.





Working on turbo mounting






IC is mounted. I will be re-making the upper tire bar. Don't like how its not centered and at a goofy angle.


Starting in on the cold side






Interior cold side. I almost made it all without having to use any silicon couplers. Ended up having to use one in the pipe that goes from the IC to the TB. It would not come out of the car in one piece... I tried. Angry.







Down pipe fab


Don't mind the body line, fender is fully bolted on.

Just playing around. Single 85. Still same ol iron block motor, so that's my limit.

Lol those turbos are bigger than ones on my tractor ... And I have the biggest John Deere makes....

Just sick!!!!!!

Same ?? I always ask, why go with the big *** cooler instead of going with alcohol??
That's a lot of stuff to squeeze in there just for the cooler system, plus all the weight.

Definitely some nice work going on there, looks sweet.

I like to street drive it, also, double the fuel equals more cylinder pressure and that is something I do not need with this combo. I went the alcohol route with my other turbo car, made life easier for most things, besides oil change every four passes, lol.

I would never thought of that, when I see a monster like that, I think track only.

So since you have done the alcohol already, which makes more power, alcohol or water cooler everything being semi-similar??
I still would love to go with a Pro Charger on alcohol, but I'm too old & lazy to start over!!

Again, that build looks nice, love the workmanship & attention to detail!!
I've always wished I had that level of skill!!

I wish I had an exact answer for you on that, but the other motor was only ever run on alcohol. All I know is that thing made STUPID power per lb of boost. 434" sbc with cfe 15* heads and 11:1. What I can tell you, is e85 does make more power than c16 with an air to air. I would bet they are very close with air to water.

I haven't had much time to work on my car as I've been busy with a few others. Had some time to do some more cutting in the back to get it ready for the wheel tubs. Hoping the boys over at Race Engineering can squeeze me in within the next couple of weeks for the tubs and tin work. Then when I get it back in the garage I just have some small misc **** to button up then re-wire the car since the IC went where everything was mounted. Anyone want to sponsor me a turbo????? lol

Sadly, that's the O/L 10.5 tub, but its the smallest I could get. It will be cut down a good bit from there. Nothing like spending a bagillion dollars on a tub to trim it to half its size. I look forward to seeing your car this year, I've been waiting for someone to bring out a LIGHT car with a procharded bbc.

OH, makes sense, they probably sell a lot more for big tire guys, so you guys get screwed and have all the waste!!
I think the carbon tubs for mine were ~$600 when the alum tubs were all beat up??

Don't forget, I will be running legal, so I will probably weigh 2610-2620.
I would love to see a 540", F-3 on alcohol, 2100-2200lb, big tire car.
That thing would take off like a jet!!
