It would be ok ONLY if there was enough padding (lots) around all the bars. Doesn't seem worth the risk.

If the bars are padded, how could it be dangerous? A cage only makes the car safer aside from hitting your head on the damn bar.

Obviously don't turn the boost up or drop the 300 shot of nitrous but a padded cage will not have any ill effect on having kids in the car.

I'd be more concerned with harnessing them in. I think it's kinda hard to put a child seat in with 5 point belts

If the car has a cage, there shouldn't be a backseat. Period.

How old are the kids?
My 3year old loves "race cars!" And is always wanting to "go fast" which Is cruising 55mph with a loose converter and no overdrive (3k rpm)

I'm sure my car needs at the least a 4point roll bar, but i refuse to put one in if it means my youngin' isnt safe to ride in the car any longer.

Think about it, and car seat has a 5point harness..

I have no problem with the harness design I just don't know how I would get it to strap his car seat in is all. I would even remove the passenger airbag so it wouldn't pop my boy in the face I don't even like the thought of it happening to me. I do remember taking rides in my uncles door slammer in the early 90s but allot has changed since then. But I'm going to figure it out cause there is no way he isn't going to be able to cruise with me

ABSOLUTELY NOT SAFE PERIOD!

That cage, if you get in an accident, is going to be a nightmare to try to get the kid otu of the car, and then what if there's a fire?

What if the car is side swiped, and you get pushed into a guard rail, you can't get out thru your door car's against a guard rail and the car that pushed you into it is on the other door... and a fire breaks out? You going to be able to climb thru the cage to get him out thru a window?

What if you get in an accident and the jaws of life are needed, and then they have to spend 5 more minutes trying to get to the kid becuase the cage is in the way and his bleeding doesn't get stopped in time?

Absolutely not a safe idea in any way, padding or not, helmet or not, etc.etc.

If you have a 2nd front seat in the car (I assume you do) and when he's big enough to get buckled into that with the 2nd 5 pt harness, then that's a different story. I'd still make the kid wear a helmet. Kid will probably love that anyway.

Back seat, or a child seat in a car with a cage, no way period.

I made the assumption we are talking about a kid 4-6 years old minimum. A todler in a car seat seems a bit foolish.

A booster would be mandatory some of them even have a high back to them and there is no way I would put a kid in the back with a roll bar/ cage. And I can't keep my kid to leave my helmet alone when we go some where and I would also have swing outs for added ease.

I don't like cages in street cars. That cage could beat you to death.

I have a bar in my car and my son rides in the backseat all the time, granted its in his Recaro child seat. I purchased a 4 door car to use all four doors and related seats! The cage doesnt interfere with its use at all. Most people dont even notice it since its tucked in and runs so close to the body lines.

If someone wants a cage in a car thats going to be a daily driver the cage designer can make it less intrusive so all seats can be used, even in a two door car. Takes a little more work for them but they can do it.

i grew up riding in my dads 10 second 68 firebird, and the way the cage was set up we never had to worry, and to whoever made the comment that a roll cage car shouldnt have a back seat should be slapped
