Default Champion Wheel C1 beadlock reviews?

Hey guys, I've got a set of 16x10 Bogart R/T rims that i'd like to put beadlocks on & found Champion wheel & i'm curious to see if you would suggest them to do it?

They have a couple different options/looks but i'm thinking the C1 beadlocks but would it be worth the extra money for the lighter CW1 beadlocks?

I'm only having them install them on the outer lip of the rims due to these are on a C5 Vette & the inner rim lips will hit the rear control arms since this is still a IRS car.
I'm planning on using screws on the back or inner lip of the rims.

What you think?

Champion does a good job with them. If you want another option other then champion, OMF makes beadlock rings as well. I know the installer of them that's located in CT, and he does a good # of them... the OMF stuff is good solid stuff.

I recently purchased a champion wheel set with the beadlocks installed and they look extremely good and well machined.

Im considering both locks you are looking at. Ive seen about all of their beadlocks. I have to say their smoothie cw1 is the nicest. C1 is ok. I like the price is why im considering them.

I checked out OMF, nice site & they look good too. Anyone know the pricing? I'll give them a call if not.

Here's possibly a dumb question, are beadlocks worth the price compared to screws? I love the looks of the locks but not sure if they are worth it, what do you guys think? Especially on my low 10 second car, its not like a 7 or 8 sec ride.

The OMF ones are the heaviest out there. Mac Fab, Champion, and Sanders are the lightest I have seen.

The pros to beadlocks is that you can mount and dismount the tire easier, the beadlock makes it harder to shake the tire and applys better bite to the bead over screws.

The cons are that a beadlocked wheel is heavier.

makes sense, yeah i knew bout mounting/dismounting, I've heard that your 60 ft's can improve as well but i figured that was only because of the tire not slippin on the bead.

i think i'll go with the Champion locks anodized blue to match my heap.

Thanks guys!

Here's a small picture of what a sander engineering dbl beadlock wheel looks like from the top.

I have a set of hoosier 29.5 slicks mounted to them now, I'll try to pop a picure of that and shoot it over.

I'll put a picture up of them with mounted tires tonight (just have to try to get the size right so I don't blow the website up, always seem to put one up that's too big, or too small)

You should see one bolted up on the car LOL. Car's on jackstands, rear hanging. Tire has no more then an inch the entire way around the wheel well, and sticks out about 5 inches

I'll put a picture of that up too, and then you'll call me Chico.

Rear, will probably get narrowed about 6 inches per side to pull them in enough, control arms are getting moved in, probably putting a wishbone in the car and ditching the phb at this point, shocks are going to the back side of the rear, and the frame rail, is probably going to get pretty skinny.. as I want to make sure there's enough room for a 31x10.5w tire if I find the 29.5 isn't consistant enough.

When you see it sitting on the rear end it's comical, like a rat fink drawing. good for a laugh... then the work needed to get it in sets in But, at least when it's done, I won't have to do it again.

Not really... When I put them on the car I also put in a motor that made 3X the HP.

.

Champion did my Bogarts when they became illegal, broke 200 mph, and they came out nice.
I have always been against modifying a non-beadlock wheel, but I have had zero issues.
Mine are 15" x 16", so it's not the same as what you have, but I'm sure the size does not matter that much??
