Default 10 sec. 370lsx 91 b4c build

Project 10sec lq4 91rs

After my engine threw a rod at the nmca lsx shootout here in Indianapolis I decided to go a completely diffeent route. The plan is to keep everything from the engine back the same. That includes th400 trans with brake. Coan 8" 4500 stall . Mosier 9"rearend with 4.11 gears. And full Umi suspension. This setup paired with my sad carbed 388 yielded a best of 1.55x 60ft 11.52x @116.xx mph. Car hooks very well with the 28x10.5s mickeys.

I am going to go step by step with my engine build this will be a extremely budget engine. I will keep a running total rounded up to the nearehist dollar of all the expensive. This will include all the junk I sell that is salvageable off of my old engine which is mostly all savable.

383 carnage

It happened at the mnca lsx shootout in indy. in october. I was running true street class. On the 20 mile cruise I notice oil pressure as low as 20psi at idle(usually around 40). Went ahead and decided to run it anyway. Didn't want to be disqualified fir popping the hood or stopping. Ran the first pass and noticed some blowy coming out if my cowling hood. Figured my valve cover breather fell off ir something dumb. So I ran my second pass and half way through first gear it felt like I was pulling a trailer. Then all a sudden it go quiet. Looked in the mirror andsaw smoke. Lol it was toast. #7 rod out the pan. Had to trailer it home for the first time ever. Engine had 5 yrs of abuse. Never had heads off or pan. Upon tear down it looked like oil pump pick up feel off. It wasn't welded.

Video 1.85 60ft it felt lazy off the line

instead of sending my ls3 heads out I decided to keep it local and have mike Stark at cfm performance here in indy. Getting heads milled. 035" competition valve job. Bowl intake and exhaust port work. Special attention to the l92/ls3 exhaust port. should put compression around 11.25;1 with .040" head gasket Www.cfmperformance.com.

Also going to have a cam speced from eps this week

Awesome man, I asked because a friend of mine in TN used to have one like it with a 383 SBC and thought it was the same car.

Great job on the build. Keep us updated!

Subscribed.... damn near identical plans here.

Got a part number on those pistons ?

Why the LS2 rods Vs. the LQ4's ?

Since my engine was a 2004. I didn't have floating wrist pins like the ls2 and lq9 engines. The ls2 rod has a bushing in the small end that I had honed to fit the. .945" wrist pin. Part number of pistons is 1000592 racetech. Only company I know of that is made for stock 6.098" rod and stock 1.340" compression height. With stock deck height the pistons are. .006" outta the hole.

OK, so no decking needed with that combo and couldn't they make that a press pin piston or mod the LQ4 rod for a floater ? (not a engine machinist)
I like that ...could save $$$
I won't be porting heads (yet )

I'll be doing my build here in the next month or so and hoping for the same ET's (mid-low 10's)
Really hope you get yours done and on dyno or track for some numbers soon.

Foot note D,L ????

370 4.030 -- 3.622 6.098 1.340 11.4 10.8 10.0 -3.3 Call D,L 1000592 AT 4030

No decking. You could have the lq4 rod machined to accept a bushing and hone it to fit pin for $$$$. Ls2 rods were only 65.00$ shipped on ebay. With bushings in them. So I assume ls2 rods would be cheaper
