Default Cam ideas for 90% drag car

As the title says I am looking for a cam for a mostly strip setup. I have 4.10s and 28" tires gathering all my parts for th 400 swap already have 4300-4500 stall converter. I am doing headers and weight savings over the winter. I want to see how fast I can run it with cam only without cutting the pistons.

I ran the LG Motorsports G5X4. Same gears, tires, and tranny as you. Only my converter was around 5500. Ran a best of 10.38 and averaged mid 1.3X short times. No fly cutting needed with this cam.

Above lg cam, trex, ms4 or whatever the latest version of that is, they're all about as big as you can get without cutting the pistons... anything less I can't see being a better idea.

Thanks for the replies guys, I thought the ms4 needed to flycut though? Or is that only with different heads

have a ms4 in mine on stock 853s didnt need to fly cut at all,but if you do upgrade the heads just make sure there setup for your cam,or fly cut with killer heads would be my vote, ms4 is great track cam pulls really hard once you get it going

If you have the valve seats cut a little deeper you can "sink" the valves in a little bit and not really lose any flow out of the heads if done right... and you can then mill the heads to drop the combustion chamber.

Or, just use a 5.3 head as the chambers are smaller, another cheap/good way to get the compression bump if you go that route later.

Regardless.... for the goal of a 90% track car to put anything small in would be counter productive.
