Default Best way to get air to 4150 tb

I have a super victor and fast 4150 tb. Cowl has been cut away.
Need to buy a hood. Not many choices out there. Leaning toward a
VFN 5" Sloped extented to windshield.
I want to get as much air into the motor as possible. Any ideals?
Do I want a hood that extends to the windshield or stops at the cowl?
Or what?

Seen a guy on here make a nice clean setup to go from a fast toys lid to a carb hat all sealed from lid to carb hat smooth bends and looked clean. also when the car ran on the dyno open t/b made good power. put that setup on with the hat and lid and gained 5 so not loss.

I think I recall that set up. I don't have the lid and lower ram air box anymore.
When I had the lid and fast 92, I cut the baffles out of the hood and seal the hood to the lid and pick up .13 in the 1/4 mile.
I would like some kind of ram air for this set up.

jerry bickle 4150 carb velocity pan, and then build a carb pan around that sealed to the cowl and open in the rear.

Im looking at the same issue. I am switching to a super vic with either the 4150 Accufab, or a Wilson (non low profile) intake elbow with a 102mm tb on front. I just sold my lower air box so the lid setup is out. I have a 4" ws6 sloped, bolt on hood.
Stangkilr had a lid/carb hat if you wanted to go that route.
Im looking for something different.

This was my first attempt that I made in an hour or so, second attemped was a little smoother, and a bigger air cleaner. Picked up a couple mph from running nothing. I have a regular sunoco hood, and I attached the stock plastics back, with a couple tabs.

Sub how close is that to the hood? I wonder if you may want to think about having a scoop molded into the hood, like a small harwood type so the engine has some room to breathe (and room to go with a taller intake later on too)

they say you want it to be 1 - 1 1/2" below the hood. mine is sitting a little over an inch below.

Yeah that would be about the minimum I'd think.

Scoop, and if you made a pan to seal it would make a difference I bet.

See a lot of guys with scoops on top of cowl hoods ???? I don't know the theory though.

I would look into making the hood scoops work for you to keep the "stock look" (I love the R/A 'Birds....just mean looking IMO).

That's what I'm thinking about doing.
Just don't know which way to get air in from the VFN 5" sloped hood.
Does the air come from the cowl or from the nostrils in front of the hood.

Yeah, 418. Shawn and I talk about the 4500, but he said he thought the 4150 would be enought air.

Why just a inch or inch and a half below the hood. I always heard you want as much as you could get. To get more air in. Seems that 1 - 1 1/2", you would be choking it.

Does your 4" sloped go all the way back to your windshield.

I looked at that TB but went with this setup. 105mm TB and huge 90. It flowed even and fed my 427ci very well.Piped it to use the ram air from the hood but can't find any pics of that. 4" sloped bolt-on hood.
