Default Check This Out!!!

Ok, I have the mods in my sig minus the ported TB and I haven't had the ported MAF on the car yet. I put them in my sig because well I have been meaning to get around to porting the TB and putting the other MAF on. Anyway, after going to the 1/8mile track again today I was stuck in the 7.70-7.72 at 89-90mph. This just seemed a little slow for my mods. So in despair I decided to take out the screen in the MAF sensor to see if it made any difference (not knowing what else to do at this time). First run down the track without the screen (only change) netted me 7.61 @ 91.5mph so I thought to myself this must be a fluke. Once again, 7.61 at 91.8 mph!! So this tells me that my engine is breathing through a straw and needs more air, so I'm hoping a ported TB and putting my ported MAF on will make a big difference!

Results: 60ft- 1.765 ET- 7.615 MPH- 91.863

I just found this amazing that the screen made this much difference. I also know this time isn't the best and could be better, with a faster 60ft, turning of the COT sensor that the tuner forgot to turn off, and the ported TB and MAF I think my times will drop even more.

I would be willing to bet that you were running too rich (the cots may have something to do with it). Descreening your MAF will change the way the senor "reads" the air coming in. To make a long story short, the computer was adding tons of fuel in PE mode before you descreened your MAF. After you descreened it, the computer did not add any "extra" fuel at WOT (PE mode), giving you much better performance!

That's actually kind of what I was thinking, the 'tuner' got the car running to where the O2's were reading 850-880 but didn't remove the COT sensor readings. Going down the track you could see a little black smoke coming out of the back. What gets me is she had to take fuel away from the factory fuel tables....does this make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. You need to get your part throttle Ltrims right first. If the computer has to add fuel during part throttle, then it will add during WOT that same amount. That is why she had to "take away" fuel from the PE tables, to make up for the extra the pcm was adding. What you have so far is a bandaid on your fueling. Need to get some good part throttle tuning done before you mess with PE tuning.

I told you I would go to Hendersonville first for tuning. Becky is the $hizat there! Good runs to Sly.

No problem driving the car. I tuned a car a while back and got him over 50 rwhp with the tune. It wasn't that my tune was so good, he just wasn't getting the benefit from the mods he already had. He had 85mm MAF, Air Lid, 85mm Throttle body and headers with orp. His part throttle Ltrims where running +13, meaning the pcm was adding a lot of fuel at part throttle, therefore it added a lot at WOT. We got his Ltrim to a minus number, so the pcm wouldn’t add any more fuel at WOT. That and doing a few other things gained him a lot horse power, much of it he should have already had with his mods.

-Do you do tuning there?? If so how much?? My ltrims at part throttle are roughly +13 last time I checked, actually I have seen them between +9 to +17

Yes, Becky, I might be interested in some tuning in the near future as well. Just let me know how much you charge so I can start saving up.
