Default Best tire for very bad track / no prep / old asphalt

This is not for my TransAm although not far from it
I'm choosing new tire for my manual 240sx. Currently running 26x8.5" ET Drags.
Our only official track has very bad tarmac, not prepped, basically just 60-year old degraded asphalt. Much worse than on your average street (I get 60ft of 2.0s here).
I need the best tire for these conditions, looking for either widest 26" slicks, or maybe a bit narrower 28" (wide 28" will not fit).
What's the best? MT or Hoosier? Drag slick or DOT-legal bias ply (ET STreets / QuickTime Pro DOT)?
P.S. If it helps, I'm posting video of 700HP Evo killing proper 1100HP Camaro drag car, so you know I'm not exaggerating:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-S5VK4kjGc
I run about 360whp now but plan to up considerably so the problem will become worse if not addressed...

Idk if tire alone will help you out. Find out if the track will let you prep before your pass...maybe lay down some VHT or something...I mean we use it on the street and it works well for us....if they say no I'd start looking for another track...

Not alone, of course. I'll try to experiment with other things too. It's much worse than street, like tiny stone chips, asphalt gone away mostly
And as I said, that is the only official (or even unofficial) track in my country.
So I have to get best tires for these conditions (mine are 5y.o. anyway)

I'de recomment looking for some forums that are specific to your car to see what you might can find out.

Not saying nobody here can help you. But it might help to see what guys with the same kind of car are doing.

I know on a stick car get a MT et drag stiff wall works the best. On a crappy track a slick is more forgiven then a radial when you dont have you suspension dialed in.

Unfortunately those who have this chassis don't usually dragrace. Further yet, most have decent tracks to race on.
Here people do this a lot so I thought people here could get some advices

Thinking outside of the box here.... I like the ET for a stick car and think a rear mounted windshield washer fluid bottle full of VHT routed to sprayers in the wheel well used during the burnout might work ???

Always heard of it being done, but never tried or seen.

I would get disqualified if something was dripping on my tires
I'm just trying to understand, which works best on asphalt - full slick or DOT slick ("cheater" slick)

Yes me too but he is class champion. I can imagine that though, that pure drag slicks are designed to work on well-prepped tracks probably. Just a hypothesis

.

What is obvious to me is you want the most contact and softest slick compound.
If tall and skinny gives you that, so be it and gear to match.
I also see no way groves or tread will help in anyway??
The softest compound might not be available in the perfect size, so if you are serious,
I would try to place a special order and see if they will do it at reasonable cost??

Not the grooves but possibly the full slick might be TOO soft? No?

I street race only, no vht just pavement. For me the softest largest full slick always works best. Many on here say different but this works for me. 2nd biggest thing is front/rear weight. When I race my car is at almost 50/50 without driver.

Can't understand how, but after 4L80E swap I'm at exactly 50/50 with me.
code4, what would you choose and why: 26x10 ET Drag or 27x10 Hoosier DOT-legal?

I found that the 28x11.5 M5 Compound ET Drag works best for me on my setup.

easily ran mid 9's at @ 3250 pounds when I took it to a track.

No tracks within 5 hours of me so we run street style races on old runways etc.

OK so 3 say that I should go full slick instead of "cheater". Now I regret I found Hoosier makes "cheater" DOT slick in 27x11.5 (10" tread)
