Default Wolfe Racecraft rear bulkhead?

I mounted my new fuel cell in the trunk, to meet the NHRA rules I bought a Wolfe Rear bulkhead to enclose the trunk.

Does anyone have any experience with passing tech with this? My question is do you have to put some type of seal along the upper lip that contacts the trunk lid? Also, I imagine that you would use body sealer along the other joints? Or just bolt it in and go racing?

Any input?

Thanks,
Ryan K.

The two that I have seen are simply bolted up without any sealer or weatherstrip. Both of the cars have a 7.50 cert so I think it's fine for tech. However, it would be wise to seal any gaps in the firewall with some fire sealer and do some sort of strip across the top. The harder you make it for fumes and such to enter the passenger compartment the safer you will be on race day.

I have had one in my car for years and the first few had no problems. Then 3 years ago at the bracket finals they refused to allow me to race untill I sealed it all up. I ended up having to make some panels to go along the sides so that if something happend fuel could not run behind the plastic panels and then into the drivers compartment and I put a piece of weather stripping along the top to seal it when the hatch is closed. It all comes down to who is checking the car and how pickey they are. If you race at only one track and they are good with it your ok but if your like me and travel alot sooner or later it will become a problem. And before anybody quotes the rule book to me I already know what it says. But that does not stop a tech inspector from ending your weekend if they interpret it different than you do.
