Drag Race Fuel Tank
We are putting one of these alluminum units from Speed Inc. in my car. Does anyone here know if I can use the stock sending unit with this? It doesn't seem to fit.

I have a Speed Inc. tank in my car. I am using an external pump but I wanted to use the stock sender so my gas gauge would work. When I tried to put the sender in it hit the bottom of the cell. All I did was cut the sender in half with a hack saw so I could still use the float.

Thanks for the response! So you cut the thin metal thing that holds the float? What about the big plastic thing that has all the pump stuff in it? Did you cut that or get rid of it? (Sorry I am not being very technical - my mechanic is asking me to post this after he showed me the problem).

I don't have one, but I would think everything below the sending unit float could go if you're running an external pump. That would be the plastic container, sending unit & metal support arm. I would go ahead and ditch all the lines going in and out as well, except for maybe the vapor/EVAP lines.
That's what I did on my LT1.
