Default Stock Internal build questions

Im just starting on this build, the car is my 98Z in sig. Sold the 80 and LQ4 for a T56 and using my 01 LS1. First I want to make sure thats ok, an 01 motor in a 98 car. It seems some of these stock internal rules are a bit touchy. I also have to put another set of 241's on the motor since mine are ported. Is it ok to run a 98 cam? I have one of those but not an 01-02 cam, they are different as we know. And last but not least, Super Vic/4500, vic/jr/4500, or do you still have to run a stock style intake? I dont want to buy/build all this and it not even be "legal"

Seems legit to me. The dead ringer for setting yourself out in front of everyone else, is going to be a few items that don't have part numbers on them

I feel like I've seen a question along those line before (98 cam in 01 motor and also swapping stock heads back on) and like you mentioned it was a touchy subject. Don't have an answer for you here but curious as well.

I once read a good quote.

don't waste your time chasing after internet records, the payout isn't that great....

My buddy blew up his complete motor chasing the SBE W/Nos record. But at the same time he was just pushing the shity parts he had to go fast.

Every last piece on that motor was trashed minus the intake. everything.

We built a new motor for stock cube with nitrous just because he got a great deal on all the parts and to have fun while he builds a turbo setup.

Trading an 80 for a t56 seems like a dumb idea to me.

personally I would just build something fast and have a good time. And your chassis better be under 2600 with motor, because weight is going to be the key....

personally I see holding the SI record is like winning the special Olympics....

but each to their own.

good luck!

The 80 is good for big power, which I don't make, nor have the money too for this car. I also need the 6 speed for hwy use and want it for the fun factor. I have the motor, cam is going back in my other car, so no use for ported heads anymore. Stock internals it is. I'd much rather throw a s475 on my current setup...maybe one day.
