Exclamation 10-Point Roll Cage without modifying dash

Hey guys, I will be needing a 10 point roll cage for my 99 Trans Am with T-tops, I will be hitting 9's if the tune is good. Does anyone know of a sponsor that would sell a 10 point Chromoly roll cage but that does not require modifying my dash? Ill be giving Wolfe Craft a call once I get off of work to see if they can custom make me one. I have seen a few cars and trucks out there that the bar that goes through the dash instead goes straight down, makes a little curve around halfway door/dash level and goes diagonally down to floor below the dash.

Thanks Guys, Alex

The MWC cage has both options also, although our bars that go through the dash actually go through the plastic extension panel and not the dash itself.

I have seen it done, but I have to say that I don't recomend it. It really limits getting in/out of the car and the way the tubes have to be bent reduces strength....

Dashes are easy to replace...ur life is not. Having it bend around the dash is a pain and a place for it to bend or fail... Imo go threw the dash.

Through the top access panel is the best IMO. It is pretty easy to get the dash and access panel to fit tight and look alright.

Here's a pic of the dash area of an 8.50 full cage we installed in a customers car. You can't see the pillar bars or halo from the side and the pillar bars don't contact the dash itself, just the plastic extension panel.

Yeah don't curve around the dash, I had that setup once it looks terrible and it was hard to get in and out of the car.

Probably been asked before but what is the weight difference for the MWC 10 pt chrome moly vs mild steel? Also, I'm assuming the POR15 treatment is pretty much mandatory for both?

FYI to all here... an 8pt cage is NHRA legal to 8.50 quarter mile. Almost daily I get people inquiring about "10 point" roll cages. Even for that matter a 6 point full cage is legal to 8.50 in a car with a full OEM frame(i.e. 65-72 Chevelle, 70-87 Monte Carlo-Malibu).

Chromoly vs mild steel in a 8.50 legal cage is usually about 20 pounds difference. A mild steel roll bar/cage can be MIG or TIG welded, anything chromoly has to be TIG welded only.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at a side benefit here of adding a cage to help my 60 ft times. Anyone noticed a difference in improvement or consistency vs no cage?
