Oh man, did someone say street car?! You have a chance for at least a couple of years, before it gets on a track

Great looking start on the project. Hope it stays an LT style body/nose.

Glad I didn't try to open this thread on my 3G phone lol...

Thanks man! It is staying LT front end because I don't want to spend the money on swapping it, and because you don't see very many. I have only seen one or two (and then only pics) of the LT front with an extended hood. I have to wait to do some other things before I can put my hood on though

I thought about a warning for the pics, then I realized it wasn't the 90's

Looks great man!

What do you think about the mini tub, for weight saving over the normal weight saving remove the armrest metal such? Im thinking about doing them just for that. I dont need them for room 25x10.5 and 275 is all I run.

And while your back there drill out that "gas tank brace" that 1x2 sqare bar spot welded form the inside under the car behind the back seat. Your gona be welded a tube across ther with the cage anyway I bet.

Thank you! They take out a LOT of weight. The factory tub is so many layers of metal. That driver side tub that I cut out on one chunk was probably 30-40lbs. That is only a rough cut, there is more to come out. It is a lot of work though, but should be worth it.

I plan on getting rid of that metal too. There is only a couple other brackets that I can even get rid of. If its not 100% needed, then it will be gone. This is just the start...

Thanks! It may take a while to get done, but it should be worth it.

According to your signature, you only like flat black things.. Where are they?

When ever we paint somehting we paint it flat black. Everything on my Turbo trans am "which he helped me build" is painted flat black(parts wise).

Now we are working on his car, and once we get some more progress im sure things that are flat black will start appearing in this thread

Yeah, what Chris said! There has been no painting done yet, but rest assured when the cans come out they will be black, blacker, and blackest

So another weekend has come and gone (too quickly) and more progress. Its really just more of the same, so I will just get to pics.

I started out by hacking off that last little piece on the driver side. Chris didn't appreciate me taking a pic I guess.

You can also see that we (mostly Chris) drilled out the spot welds on the inner tub. It made more work, but it will look a lot cleaner when it's all done. On the passenger side it really isn't a big deal, on the driver side it is a bit more complicated but that is OK.

FINALLY, a tub is in! You can see the missing lip on this side as well, and the gap it leaves now.

Next up was the driver side tub! A little bit bigger gap, but I can fix that.

Then came time to start making up the templates for the tin work.

And here is the weekly pile of **** that got cut out

After that, I decided to close up some holes starting with the gas door

Then came the antenna

Before I forget, here is a pic of the Wolfe door panel!

That's all I got for now. Next week I should have some panels going in. Hopefully I don't screw that up too bad, we will find out! As always thanks for following along!

It's just the start! I figured that the cardboard is basically the same thing as carbon fiber, plus its more "green". Also MUCH easier to work with!

Thanks! That should kill some time

Ugh, not another red f-body! There is already two, and that is two too many for me. You can do everything we have done though. When we started on the TA neither of us had done any fab work or welding. We taught ourselves as we went along. This is still room for improvement in my eyes, but we do pretty good.

Looking good and I like the idea of leaving that nose on it.

Ill send you my red TA and you send me yours. Lol

I do all of my own work and the red TA actually is what pushed me to do my own stuff.

Just lacing in some tools right now.

Thanks guys! I think he LT1 front end will look good, plus be a little different.

I don't think Chris (owner of the TA) would go for that... I am glad that we have influenced you in some way! Nothing beats building it yourself.

What tools are you getting next?
