I wanted to use the sportsmans but I couldn't get a set that didn't vibrate horribly. They were out of round bad! The classics were great, although I didn't exceed any of the ratings. For track use, I think they'd be fine on most cars. You're only doing short bursts of speed and not building a bunch of heat like on the highway before you get to high speeds.

I have had sprotsman pros on my 55 chevy for over 10 years, it does everything well, they are better than what came on it stock in 1955, but I would not want to drive on either everyday.

It not just cheap skinnies. Beginners need to be reminded that the best skinnies are nowhere near as good for turning or stopping as a decent (radial) road tire. Drag cars don't always go straight. Drag racers commit engineering atrocities to improve traction. Drag spring and shock combinations are almost never tested for stability. I didn’t consider these facts until the first time I got a bit sideways and couldn’t recover. The necessary little maneuver would have been easy with stock suspension and tires. The NHRA rulebook protected me from my dumb self.

What about those of us running bias ply tires on the back on the street? What is a good matching bias ply skinny for the front that will hold up to street driving?
