First Track Day Helmet
I am going to my first track day at PBIR. I need to order a helmet. What is the best bang for the buck helmet. I need an XL. I found this one on Summitracing.com
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gf...lgbk/overview/
Too many to choose from...
I tried on a friend's XL RCI SA2005 and it was a nice fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it was 07 when I bought my helmet and at the time it needed to be snell 2005 rated to use it at my local track ( check what your track will require of you )
so I put snell 2005 in google and one of the first links that came up was a snell 2005 rated HJC basic open face for like $79 it was under $90 shipped.
if you want full face it will be more , if name brands matter it will be more , many on here will probably say not to cheap out on safety equipment but if your cars not crazy a basic helmet will do you fine , if I had a 9 or 10 second car I would probably buy a closed face quality helmet

^ what this guy said adding that personally I use motorcycle helmets. I had one left over from my sportbike days. But they are cheap and easy to find locally used (if that is your thing). snell m2005 is also approved for use. Last time I went through tech I believe I was told its good till 2015. I have two HJC's and love them both.

If all they require at your track is snell 2010, look into getting the bell star. Its probably the best helmet bell offers for motorcycles and it vents really good. Very comfortable light aswell.
These are generally over 600 bucks new, but PM me if you want a link to buy one under 350 from a non-sponsor.
This is the one i have. I bought it under 300 bucks on black friday and you can get it for 330 right now. Lots of people like this helmet over shoei's, plus you can get a photochromatic helmet that turns dark during the day, and clears out at night.
