Default Window switches and lightweight door panels

Anyone simply cut off the factory switch and put something else on the wiring with a lightweight door panel? Maybe even mount the switch to the door after?

or put a set of hand cranks on. if you are going with lightweight door panels, then you are worried about weight. get rid of all you can.
