Question Help: Drag racing tires

I'm wondering if someone could tell me what the best brand/ size is for some drag racing tires, that are street legal (or that I could a least get away with. I recently bought a 02 Trans Am that was a drag car and I'm trying to get it ready for my area's opener on May 3. It still has most of its set up,but the seller no longer had the drag radials. This is my first actually drag car and I just want an outside opinion.

The stock 16's, but I'm looking to get another set. That's what I'm wondering, mainly width, because I assume the rim size doesn't really matter. Unless it does, I don't really know.

If those are the only mods on your drag car, some nitto 555r's should do just fine.
They wear well, are safe to dive in the rain if you watch your speed, and they have a pretty good tread life.

They look nice, but I was mainly wondering what width I should get. I know skinny in the front small in the back, but I just wanted to see what other people use. I don't want to go two thin that I can't steer

245/50 or 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson, but I doubt you need that sticky of a tire

You have a pretty much stock car w/a couple of bolt ons.
The nitto's should do just fine.
Now if you were running a 3200 or larger stall, then you might want to step up to MT/ET'streets

Sounds like you don't really have any idea of what is actually in your car.
contact the seller. Have him give you a rundown on what parts remain in your drag car now vs when it was running 12 oh's.
There's no point going any further on this topic untill you have that info.

I know everything thats on the car, ithas everything I listed before, plus the 4L65E transmission (built to handle 800hp) alto red friction plates, Trans Go shift kit, 3&4 shift kit and coleen steels. Is that enough for you?

The car isn't making much more then stock power, personally I wouldn't use a nitto, but some have luck with them. A 255 MT drag radial would be more then enough

I know its not making more than 330HP with this tune. Can I ask why you prefer MT over Nitto. Like I said I haven't raced anything this legit before and I just want a third party opinion .
