Catalytic converters Recently my hooker headers blew out and the hole was to big to patch. I'm replacing them with some stainless american racing ones. The only problem is that they have cats and I used to not have any. I'm wondering if they will affect performance?

****... A Stock 5.3 with the cats cut off will hold a decent amount more timing afterwards.
Just throwing this out here, but the merge collector on those high dollar headers isn't really going to do much for you with a restriction after it. I know 98% of the buyers don't run open headers, or even extensions off of them, but that's where you're going to see the largest Benefit with that collector design.
Converters are for hippies and all you poor folks in California. They have no place on a hotrod.
