They are either knock offs or I think umi or bmr makes them.

I have a umi k-member. So the pedestal's are welded in. These look pretty similar to umi. But way cheaper

They are knock off's of our design. It is a shame. At that price I might guess they could be made overseas. Solid aluminum is not cheap and the CNC time of these is high so I am curious to how they can make them at that price...

Look like my UMI"s, Which fit perfect and are very high quality. Those must be knock offs.

China FTL.

OP, I know the price is appealing but my opinion is to buy the parts from UMI and save the possibility of a headache.

And, it is sad that some people will support thieves and buy that crap.

Ended up buying poly mounts for now. But curious why these are "crap" if they are the made from the same material as umi's. They do look like a copy of umi's mounts. Never saw where it said "made in china" either, lol. I've bought from that seller before, but always used parts. So I got no idea where he gets these.

Edit: guess I better call summit and see where my poly mounts were made

I think it's more about copying another companys product, they look identical.

How do you know if they are the same material that UMI usses? It may be aluminium but that dosent mean its anywere near the same alloy. That would be my guess as to why its so cheaper. For the $50.00 your going to save? Is it worth what is going to be damaged when one of those thing let go.

There ya go. I don't support rip-off artists and thieves. I don't buy boot leg movie DVDs either. I've been ripped off enough by copy-"tuners" that I have no use for those people.

Fair enough on the rip off artist part. I get that.

The alloy is the same no. as umi's. I would assume that would make it the same strength, but doesn't matter since I already ordered to poly's. Just because someone is marketing a part for cheaper doesn't mean that it is always made worse though.

I'm not sure why you would even need poly mounts. I personally would never use solid side mounts. The thought of my solid side mounts jerking on the sides of my block when I turn loose of the Trans brake button, or side step the clutch, thinking about what would happen to my cylinders & ring seal just doesn't make me get all wet. :-)
To me, only stock side mounts or motor plates.
Just think about jerking your cylinders out of round.

Hello All,

I never said they were made in China, I was just making an assumption.. so there is a difference there and I don't want to start a rumor lol.

We work with Hawks as well and have a great relationship with them. I am assuming they are just selling someones brand and not actually making them.

We do use USA made aluminum here at UMI. I even attached a few pictures directly from our shop.

Sorry if I made it sound that way Ryan. You definitely didn't say they were made in China. You only said that it was a knock off of your design.

Ed- I had to change out my stock ones because I couldn't get my new umi k-member to fit them correcty without grinding. So I thought about the solids because they have alot smaller footprint than the stockers. But ultimately I didn't want to go that route. I plan on having 1000+hp in this car so I didn't want to use the stockers, but also don't want to use a motorplate. So I figure the poly mounts will be my best option. We will see how it works out.
