Default How much et from skinnys?

I know a lot of things effect et but generally speaking if I'm running a Torque Thrust II with a 275 on it now, how much should I pick up going to a 3.75 skinny? Anything like .1 or close to it?

Me too. Probably less. It will be small enough you would need to back-to-back-to-back them at the track, same day, to see anything.

I did not gain anything, maybe .5 mph? I know there are some that say 1-2 tenths though.

Easily shave .10 to .15 off your et and gain 1 to 2 mph. I've done it many times comparing back to back passes. Weigh them both and you will be surprised, my stock 16 in snowflakes and firestone firehawk 245/50/16 combo weighs 45 lbs. each, my 15x4 convo pros and skinnie radial weigh 25 lbs. That's 20 lbs rotating weight which is alot. When I borrowed my buddy's bogarts with mt et fronts they were like 22 lbs. and I picked up close to 2 tenths.

Depends on the roll-out due to tire size.

Every .1 off the 60' is .1 up to .3 off 1/4 ET.

That is just an Internet myth. .1 off 60' us .1 off 1/4 mile ET. I deal with that almost every weekend. No variance to that at all with my car, which repeats to the hundredth if no changes. I asked my long time friend Mike Edwards (NHRA Pro Stock record holder and winner of the Southern Nationals this weekend) if he ever heard of that. He tests more, and has more data on things like that than anybody I know. He asked "How could it?" Told I never saw it, and the other SS racers I run with have never seen that. Maybe a car with serious chassis problems, but I still can not imagine how. Certainly not a decently working car.

That one rates right up there with 100 lbs equaling 1/10th in ET. 100 lbs = six to seven hundredths with my car. Only a very low hp car would see a tenth per hundred.

WOW, I would have thought a good set of light skinnies would be worth more than that. Less than a tenth?!?

In my fifty years of racing I have never seen a tenth. In Stock Eliminator & Super Stock Eliminator we would almost slap our Mothers for five hundredths, so we all run them.

I can see minimal gains when compared to the wimpy 15" wheels/tires of the past, but with everyone running 17"+ wheels and 245+ width tires I'd imagine the benefit of a front runner would be much greater.

My car is a 1996 Trans Am. It didn't pick up five hundredths. Back-to-backed then at the track, same evening while it was still a street car just to see.
