I was wondering for all you that run delay boxes, with a manual delay box that you choose your time that it counts down from once you hit the trans brake, how do you decide what time and what do you base the time off? Without a crosstalk, do you set your brake when the first bulb goes out or turns on? How would you base your reaction time? Just need info for some consistent bracket racing

The amount of time you set the delay box for will depend on 3 things,
#1 do you want to leave off your top bulb or bottom?
#2 how quicky your car reacts to trans brake release (many factors can affect this)
#3 how quicky you can pick up whichever bulb you wish and release the button.
A basic starting point is put 1.5 seconds in the delay for leaving on the top bulb or .5 for the bottom. From there, add more time if you red light and subtract from the delay if your reation time is bad.

I would put 1.0 in the box and leave off the top bulb, as it comes on. Then work off that number once you get a couple runs under your belt. 1.5 in my opinion is a lot of delay to start with.
