Didn't post this originally since they aren't a sponsor but here you go. Dunno if the rules have changed but posting non-sponsor links used to be a no-no. Second one down.

A new one will bend like a taco and spring back.
I had a cage in the car and putting the original back in snapped the cap.
So, I purchased a new one from a GM parts dealer on ebay. I was able to fold it backwards 45degrees or so and get the ends past the cage windshield bars. I didn't have to remove the windshield.
Then I had to put in notches in the cap for clearance from the cage bars, so the cap would sit flat down on the dash.
I"ve seen a cap or two that was cut a couple inches from the passenger edge. That makes for easy removal/installs as needed, and the cut is not too visible. A block of styro was set underneath to keep the pieces level and matched up.

These cars are old enough that that dash cap gets extremely fragile from time and sun exposure..

I kind of lucked out today. They had about 7 firebirds in the yard today. All them had the dash pad, and all were busted to hell. I only found one that wasn't missing pieces so they pulled it for me for $50. I'm gonna use the fiberglass mat and resin to strengthen it where its cracked, and then cover it in vinyl. Should have around $80 total in it when I'm done.

I've thought about trying to sell it, but not sure who'd want it.

I am looking for one myself but all I can find is the covers not the actual original pad and the ones i find on ebay they are wanting 200 bucks for one with a broken tab or some sort. If anybody knows where I can find one thats reasonable I will buy it.

I've got one of those....it's made out of carbon fiber. It came with a car I bought. I don't know what's with the area behind the guage section. I think it may be like someone else said and made for their fiberglass dash.

No Still haven't gotten a chance to pick it up. Working on moving (short move, but a lot of stuff) and my wedding is a week from tomorrow. Seems like everything in the world has come up to keep me from making the trip to FL for the 2 hoods. At least they are paid for already.
