Default Mufflers Straight Off Headers

I just put my Borla XR-1's straight off my headers.
Car sounds great.
I had open headers with about 24" of straight pipe with turndowns before.
Car was way loud and sounded like ****.

Performance wise, can I run these Borla's straight off the headers or do I need some straight pipe between the headers and mufflers?
These are the short case mufflers. So the O2's are about 22" from the end of the mufflers. Is that far enought away?

I have run mufflers slipped right onto the collectors with zero problems. Had turn downs on the mufflers.

Yeah, I was thinking about putting the turndowns on after the mufflers.

That's far enough, I ran mine 12" away from the end of the turndown and had zero issues with the same kind of tune.

Thanks Jon and I owe you an apology.
Like my wife says, I'm a dick head at times.
Hell, I think I bought my quarter stick from you.

Got a sound clip? Been thinking of ditching my exhaust and doing this with some XR1s.

I thought mine sounded like crap. I have had several in my shop like that. Terrible drone at highway seeds. I did it to run at a track with a sound level limit. Still have them out in the garage. Don't have a name on them, don't remember the brand. 3 1/2" straight through, with a divider down the middle. Only cost 6 to 7 rwhp over open headers. Didn't think they sounded all that great, but I'm very old.

I have heard these kinds of setups in person, its pretty awesome IMO. Love the tones from the XR-1s at WOT and at idle.

Arguably, the BEST muffler out there.
Bar none.

Yours maybe the Dynatech Split Flows.
I'm pretty old, and can't stand the sound of a loud *** car.
These Borla XR-1's tone the sound down nicely.

I'll get you one today.
But, it's not going to sound like it would in person.
At lease not to me.
What exhaust are you running now?

Dynatech sounds right. I went out and looked yesterday thinking they may have a name on them. They don't. I called Julio at Cartek in NJ to see what would pass the decibel test at the Englishtown NJ track before I hauled it back there for that magazine article several years ago. They were on there for a week. Need to make a list of stuff I need to sell. Cams, rear gears, headers, etc. when I die somebody is going to have a ton of **** to dispose of. LOL

Here is a sound clip, dont know if you can make anything out of it or not.
The mufflers and turndowns are just slid on loosely.
