Default First time at track

Ok, taking my Camaro to the track for the first time in a few weeks. Looking for some feedback on what you think my 1/4 mile time will be and possible past experiences you've had with similar mods. Vehicle info below:

99 z28 (auto)
-Slp lid/free ram air mod/smooth below/k&n filter
-potz ported throttle body
-super sucker ram air
-slp loudmouth catback exhaust
-regular all season street tires
- weight reduction: back seats/hardware, spare tire and jack

I am going to guess a 14.2 w/ a 2.2 60' time.

So... A stock 99 Camaro runs 13.8-14.0 and your saying 14.2 with bolt ons?

The street tires are going to kill ya. After the first time at track with street tires I bought drag radials the next day. Went back the next week and ran .4-.5 quicker.

Even on regular/stock size wheels? I had nittos on my mustang, there was an improvement but idk if it'd be worth .4-.5 at track

14.1 2.3 60 ft'
You have A bolt on. And only a catback at that. Most of the free stuff is negligible, and if you've never raced at a track, your first few runs are going to suck. You might get high 13's after a few passes when you start to get the hang of it. And I use M/T ET Streets on stock 17" wheels and picked up a good bit.

Do I have to prove it with time slips? My first time out I ran 13.3-13.5, went back following week with DR's and ran 12.8-12.9. Granted DA may have played a small factor. I'm not saying OP will see that amount of gains I was just sharing my first experience at the track with street tires.

I don't mean to be insulting. I went to the track for the first time last month w/ the mods in my signature and ran a 14.2. My car is a manual, and I am having trouble w/ the learning curve of launching a manual. If you are inexperienced at the track then the car's capability will not be what holds your times back. I have made a total of 15 passes now and have made a best of 13.95. Tomorrow night I plan on heading back to the track and playing w/ tire pressure. I hope to see much improved times.

I was thinking about getting the ls6 manifold before I went. How much ET would that take off at the track with my setup. And also , from the too without removing it what's ge best way to see if I currently have an ls1 or ls6? I don't want to put out the money for the ls6 just to find out I already have one.

I would suggest going to the track w/ the car as is to get a good baseline. Then start modifying and see what it does to your times. Also, your money would probably be better spent on a pair of drag radials.

This sounds like a good idea. Not many fbodies are catback only, so youll get a good baseline and figure out which mod helped out and which didnt. Remember that stock times for ls1s can be between 12 and 14 seconds.
