Default Best Drag Race Torque Arm

like the title says, looking for a torque arm for my 99 trans am. car is 90% drag and 10% poking around town a little bit. I have the 9" and LCA's, PH-bar and all of that and now its time for the Tq Arm. car makes roughly 450 before spray to the wheels through and 5000 converter.
Am i better off with a tunnel mount, weld in type, or long arm not connected to the tail housing?

^^^ I like what this guy has to say!

I have a proven working design that works great for street and strip cars. The MWC front mount design features a height adjustable pivot link design that is coupled to the arm with a aircraft grade heim joint to allow a bind-free suspension movement. The crossmember is a full bolt-in design and includes a driveshaft loop at no extra cost as well. Mild steel and Chromoly versions are available and in stock with choices of different crossmembers to work with your exhaust.

Give us a call and we can get you set up with the highest quality and the best prices.

i guess my worry with the tunnel mount is that the area it bolts to does not seam very strong, or like it was ever made to take the pressure. only reason im debating the weld in type

The area where you bolt them is is just fine. Mines been there for 5yrs now with zero issue. 3pt subframe connectors will add strength there If your worried

Another vote for Midwest Chassis tunnel mount setup. Plenty of abuse on mine with no problems!

I have the Spohn Chromoly Chassis Mount with DS loop on my car. It has been awesome so far. Really beefy torque arm that is adjustable. I guess the ONLY problem I have had with it, is that I have a 9 inch also like you, and with the Torque arm adapter mount on the 9 inch, it pushes the torque arm forward a little, and the same for where it mounts to the crossmember. Luckily (I have checked) it still does not bind at all, but I guess it is not "optimal" I have the torque arm adjusted as far back as I can to prevent this.

I think most all of the body mount T/A's are going to be fine for 450whp cars. I've had good luck with a used spohn body mount T/A.

Even though he already bought it, another vote for Eric @ Midwest Chassis, his stuff is proven, and flat out works! The Ohio Boys, Ray Litz, Andy Essary, Brian Black, all 7 second rigs.

I run Midwest short torque arm. consistant 1.2 60's here on DR's. Was worried if the mounting point was week too. Checked it a few times and it's all good.
