Hello everyone. I'm looking at some opinions on front runners for 17x4.5 Weld Alumastar's. Of course I know the tire's in this size are limited and are expensive... My rear tire choice is going to be Hoosier QTP 27". Of course running a bias ply out back it is recommended to run a bias up front. However, i've researched quite a bit and most seem to agree that bias ply fronts suck on the street. My question is if anybody with personal experience can chime in and give me your opinion on this. I would like to run Hoosier radial skinnies up front but of course don't know how ill the effects would be when mixing QTP's and skinny radials. I drive the car on the street maybe 700 miles a year at the very most, car is mostly for the track (it traps in the low 130's). Thank you everyone.

I've read different views on that. I know that Nhra rules provide that bias rear and radial front is not legal. At my local track I have never seen that enforced. I've seen c6 vettes with stock rubber front and bias plys out back run all the time. I was hoping that the skinny radial might be alright with the bias rear. Really appreciate the info. Good to know!
About how many miles are you getting on your skinnies? And also are you running into any problems with them flat spotting, cracking, etc? Thanks again everyone

I just got mine about a month ago so no long term data yet, but if you are only driving 700 miles a year I doubt youll run into any issues. I take mine off and run radials on the street most of the time if Im not going to the track soon so I dont let them sit with weight on them. Ive also never done any hard braking with them to get any flat spots from locking them up.
Mine have probably 100ish miles on them and they still look new.

i ran my MT front runners on the front of my 5.0 for about a year DDing cuz that was what I had when i cracked a front rim. Couldnt find a replacement, so just ran the low pro radials in the back and slapped the skinnies on the front. The only issues I had were on ripped up highways (where they skim the top layer off before repaving) - had to drive on one of those everyday for a while and it was hard to keep the car straight with all the grooves and what not, but honestly the other 99% of the time it was no big deal at all. I also never locked them up, you'd have to try to do so. You'd also be surprised at cornering too. It's really not like you have to crawl around turns, just drive normal and they're totally fine. Car is long gone but I still have the rims and tires in my garage, worn down past the rubber from thousands of miles of use.
