Weather station
Weather station Looking for someone with experience comparing the Performaire pa2 and Performaire Eclipse. Also the Kestral unit but I really like the et prediction capabilities of the Performaire units. Any recommendations.
Performair is by far the most popular with the NHRA class racers. The Krystal wind measurement piece is used by many guys that have the Performair to keep track of the wind while in the staging lanes. I have an old Tag hand held weather station. No longer in business. Have had is about six years now. Does a pretty good job, as long as I remember that it doesn't give enough weight to high humidity.
If I were buying today, I would buy the Performair. Several guys use the wind measurement unit on their enclosed trailer (The little yellow propeller on a stick), but about as many never set it up, and don't use it's wind prediction capability. It also has an optional pager deal so you can get updates in the staging lanes. At big races it's nothing to spend close to half an hour there. Many take their hand held
units like mine to the lanes with them.

I upgraded from a Tag to the Performair Eclipse with wind prediction and am very happy with it. Main reason I changed was the wind feature and the air readings aren't affected by sunlight. I've only used it this season, but several times the ET prediction was within .01 of the actual run.
