Default LQ4 front motor plate?

Hi guys,

I'm new here and also to drag racing so please be gental if I'm asking stupid questions. Also I'm in the UK so advice and parts are not so widely available here.

I'm building a Anglia street/strip car and am fittng a twin turbo LQ4 motor in it. I've bought a Competition Engineering LS front motor plate but the mounting holes don't match so I'm guessing the LS is more different to the LQ than I thought.

I searched for a LQ4 front plate and can't seem to find anyone that sells one so wondered if anyone else had been down this route and how they solved it?

Is a front plate needed with the iron block or can I use the standard motor mounting holes?

Thanks

Pete

it should be the same part. The external dimensions of the blocks are the same.

you wouldn't happen to have pictures of the said setup would ya?

Thanks for replying...

They do fit on but the mounting holes don't line up.

Hole 1 needs a hole then a thread tapping, I can fix that no problem.

Hole 2 there isn't a place on the block to drill and tap into.

Hole 3 misses the block by about 1/4" so not even enough room for a new hole or bracket on the rear

yes # 1 is not a factory supplied hole on the lq4s.
#2 and #3 I don't see where those would really be an issue. Some folks only run the top 6 holes. yes you will have holes there that are not used but I don't see it as an issue. I might would just use hole #3 for a lateral support if your worried about it just being an empty hole. If you drill and tap for # 1 that will give you a total of 10 mounting bolts(not including the top left), which is a little over kill in my opinion
