what is the best exhaust setup post headers?

After the headers what is the best exhaust setup from a power and drag racing standpoint? I have bounced around between mufflers off the headers and a y pipe with 4" merge dumped. Anyone with any experience or help?

If i'd have to guess i'd say having a cutout as close to the headers as possible would have the path of least resistance

You asked for the "best and most powerful set up for drag racing"..........why not just run the headers open with collector extensions of some kind if needed?

Roughly 18" of pipe off the headers. If not the 02s will get false readings and dump fuel.

^^this. It'll sound like *** but best for top end power. An old racer trick is spray extensions with cheap spray paint. Take it for a few blast and cut off where the paint stops burning off. It is amazingly almost always 18". Also, once length is determined, put on turndowns pointed toward each other at 45* angle. Helps with sound and won't put oil on the tires in the event of engine let-go
