We recommend the short arm for drag cars under 1000hp, but we also have 2500+hp cars on short arms as well, it just depends on application. Generally we have setup anyone that is streetable at all with a short arm, unless the car is strictly for autocross/roadcoursehandling use.
The shorter arm helps transfer weight and keep the tires planted, and don't be scared of the mounts ripping off the floor. Has it happened before, yes. Is it common, no. The tunnel mount location shares the same placement and spot welds as the seat mount crossbrace. If you are concerned about the integrity of the mount then drill through it and install bolts and washers. We have sold 1000s of of short arms and I can only think of 1 customer that had this issue. It was on a 93-97 convertible car. Customer did the bolts and it has been fine since.

We do have the long version setup as well. Comes with a full length arm, new trans crossmember, and same 4 hole adjustable pivot link. Cost on this setup usually runs about 420-425.00 shipped.

If you are planning on only driving the car at the track, on a slick, and a manual trans, the long arm may be an option.
