I have a BMR adj. long tq arm, Yank th400 crossmember a UMI ds loop and a regular 9" rearend. Been thinking of going to a beefier short setup. Just seeing what you guys have and how they bolt up.

I have read some posts of guys with tunnel mounted short torque arms ripping the floor sheet metal or breaking the spot welds on the mount tabs from the loads imposed. Just something to keep in mind.

We recommend the short arm for drag cars under 1000hp, but we also have 2500+hp cars on short arms as well, it just depends on application. Generally we have setup anyone that is streetable at all with a short arm, unless the car is strictly for autocross/roadcoursehandling use.

The shorter arm helps transfer weight and keep the tires planted, and don't be scared of the mounts ripping off the floor. Has it happened before, yes. Is it common, no. The tunnel mount location shares the same placement and spot welds as the seat mount crossbrace. If you are concerned about the integrity of the mount then drill through it and install bolts and washers. We have sold 1000s of of short arms and I can only think of 1 customer that had this issue. It was on a 93-97 convertible car. Customer did the bolts and it has been fine since.

400.00 shipped is about the average cost of the complete MWC torque arm package. Includes a double adjustable arm, 4 hole height adjustable pivot link, crossmember to work with your exhaust, and driveshaft loop is attached. We include all necessary hardware and a nice powdercoated finish.

We do have the long version setup as well. Comes with a full length arm, new trans crossmember, and same 4 hole adjustable pivot link. Cost on this setup usually runs about 420-425.00 shipped.

So short arm for 1000hp or less? I am planning a 1000-1100hp turbo car. What do you recommend? My current long arm BMR connects to a stock style mount on my Yank trans crossmember. Would that need changed out?

It would depend on street driving and the type of trans and tire that you are going to be running. Usually with a turbo car the short arm will work great.

If you are planning on only driving the car at the track, on a slick, and a manual trans, the long arm may be an option.
