Default 1/8 mile times with stock cars

I'm new to the forum, and to ls1's but not to drag racing. I sold my last Malibu drag car and bought a 99 ss camaro, and a 01 trans am for me and my 8yo sons to wrench on together and not too fast for them to take some passes with me. The SS ran a best of 8.95 @82 it has an aftermarket cat back and a lid. My TA completely stock, even the original muffler and chrome wheels ran 8.705 @82.757 60ft 2.015. I let the boys help me put on a ported tb and we ran it tonight and ran a best of 8.473 @ 84.633 60ft 1.938 not sure about the DA but the temp was within 5 degrees. Both cars are a4's with 3.23's. Before the tb on the TA it would almost bog off the line, now it spins a little and 60fts better. I have a converter getting built by the man that builds them for my drag cars, it should stall around 2800 with the brakes and flash 4200 with my current set up. I was mainly wanting to know if the numbers for the TA sound good, a lot of the mostly stock ls1's at my local track run high 8's. What were some of y'alls times when stock and how much of a change with bolt on's? Thanks for any replies

Nice, sounds like you're having some fun. Always cool to get the family involved in racing.

When my '01 WS6 M6 had Lid/Catback and street tires, the best I ran was 8.55 @ 85.6 mph, 2.1 60'. This was when I was still learning to drive the car (60' tells that lol). That pass netted me a 13.12 @ 107.5mph in the 1/4. With more seat time I could have done 12's on street tires but I didn't want to waste time. I know M6's usually run a little faster than A4's before they are stalled, but I hope that helps give you an idea of where your car is at.

For reference, my same car with Bolt-on's/tune/4.10's/drag radials/driver mod ran 11.9 @ 114 mph. That was with a little weight pulled and in about 700 DA.

Stall/Headers/Tune/Drag radials will make a huge difference on both your cars.

Your car seems on point for the mods.

kinda odd the ta was faster bone stock than the z with intake/catback , I expected to read further down that one was auto and one m6 or one 273 one 323 etc.... usually you hear bench racing around here about opposite due to the ta being a bit heavier. Big difference in options or anything else in your mind explain why the ta was quicker ?

Smart that you chose the quicker of the 2 cars as your starting point with your boys

Options are almost the exact same between the two, except the TA has leather interior, the 10 speaker sound system, and spare tire still. The camaro is missing the spare and has cloth interior. If I were guessing the weight of the ta might be more.
