502 69 Camaro

why mess with a 502. just order a merlin tall deck 4.5 bore block instead of the GM and get a scat 4.5 4340 crank for like $700. you will end up with 572 cubes. then buy some nice nitrous pistons, some really good heads like brodix, solid roller cam and a 950 holley if not a dominator. a th400 and 12 bolt or 9" will be needed for the power, get the weight down to 3400lbs and you got your self a nice ride. if your combo is right, you will be mid 9s NA and mid 8s with a 300+ shot. all this with thousands less then building a LS1 to do it. trust me, a 500+ BBC is very easy to make power with cheap.

i want both the 502 69 and the SCLS1 to be streetable but only on the weekends so i dont want them to be too animal. 11s seem cool for street/strip cars i think. what do u guys think?

the 572 crate is a nice combo and it should put you in the low 11s high 10s without too much trouble, but if you want a pump gas motor that will put you in the 10s or faster try looking at local speed shops or engine builders. You may be able to get the same or better performance for less $$$. Crate motors are nice but are also at 9:1 compression, which leaves a lot on the table. A buddy of mine has a 496 stroker big block in his 71 Nova with untouched edelbrock rpm heads, an old-school edelbrock single plane intake, a mild solid cam, a 750 holley double pumper, 3400 stall 10" convertor, stock suspension with cal-tracs and 3.73 gears and 10" slicks and he's run 10.40s at 127 mph on pump gas with full interior and weighing close to 3500 lbs race ready. Car even has a full exhaust with tailpipes. So it can be done. Going the old school BBC route might cost less, but whatever you're flavor is!
