Attn: All Hardcore A4 Bolt on guys in here!!
I'm just starting my journey to run in the 11.90's with my 98z and needed some input on a few things. I already ordered the TP 4400 so thats a start. I'm going to do headers and am really considering Mac's as my first choice for their low cost, not to mention RUQWIKR doesnt run too bad with them ! I guess in a nutshell i should copy the infamous raughammer's combo and it should run halfway close i would think. So give me any input that you guys would have on this subject. TIA Phil

I bought the MAC's for cost...as a bolt-on car, I'd rather spend the other money elsewhere. When I do heads/cam this winter, I am either going to larger headers or modify the MAC's a bit (change Y-pipe and make the header collector end a trun 3")...probably work with the MAC's first to see what happens.
If you get the MAC's, first, get them tig-welded on the outside where the pipes meet up with the flange. THEN, port them inside as they are perimeter welded by MAC inside the ports.
On your combo, just compare all of the faster cars and you will see very similar ones...a light car that hooks HARD.
Good luck with your goal. Take care.

Get it light, use the biggest/stickiest tire you can. Run the exhaust as free flowing as you can. Make concessions to "drivability". (sound, gas mileage, cornering)
Save money where you can and spend money on the best when you cant.
MAC's? I hate the company. They treat thier vendors like crap. The LT1 macs sucked with both hands. The LS1 headers are ...OK. Once they get cleaned up with a drill and a grinding stone that is. I would rather you waited and got some FLP's. They work and REALLY boost your low end and topend torque. (this matters when you have a loosey-goosey converter).
Later amigo.
Infamous? hahahaha Only in regards the "local street racing" crowd.

Do you think the 3.23 is the gear of choice for my TP4400 or should i consider something else? Thanks again for all of the help. I will give you guys all the credit when i each my 11 second goal!!!

I did well with my 3.23's due especially to the light weight of my car. I would have loved to have found my 3.42's from my 95 M6, but could not find them. 3.42's and 3.73's with traction would have helped me some.
I just did not want to put money in the stock rear knowing soon I would be stepping up to heads / cam and a beefed rear (12-bolt). That said, my recommendation would be get everything else done to your car as a bolt-on that you have budget for and 'til you are dead hooking on the 3.23's, then pick your gear/rear choice. If you can't hook with the 3.23's, you sure won't at a given combo with steeper gears at the same launch rpm...that 3.06 first gear can be your friend or your enemy.
Good luck with your goal and happy holidays.
PS: You might want to go to ls1.com and search my username for my couple of posts with all my mod's listed in painful detail. I spent a lot of time going over guys' mods on the boards and their websites (like Raughammer's) to decide on my combo.
