Default Why am I so slow?

Hey all. Went to the track last night. It was about 75 degrees out. Taking into account that my last run it was 35 degrees out I only gained .12 from the last time - my new mods were ported throttlebody, headers and ypipe, ported and polished and descreened MAF and bfg drag radials. I would think I would be about another 2 tenths quicker or so. My 60' is pretty good now. I know gears are a factor also. My friend Rob has a 2002 z28 automatic with 2.73 gears with nittos, lid and loudmouth and ran a 13.08. I know 01 and 02's are a bit faster too, but i think i have enough mods to compensate for that also. Also my car has lost over 100 lbs of weight and I weigh about 235 lbs. So why am I so slow or am I where I should be?

you ported and descreened the MAF ... is it calibarated or did you tune the car?? If not, you're probably running lean and exp. KR

Also, an LS6 intake will help A LOT

Yep, make sure your tune is right... after adding headers, it can throw your tune out of whack.

I have not tuned the car at all. I am going to in a couple weeks. I have had a few suggestions that I may be running rich. I suppose the MAF could have thrown off my tune also. Should I ditch that and put my stock MAF back on? Just seemed like the improved airflow would be a good thing.

the improved airflow is a good thing but needs to be tunned properly to get the most out of it. when you port and polish it, there is more air flowing past it then the MAF thinks. plus your headers are going to make it worse. get it tunned and put in some 3.73s or 3.42s. then you got a 12 second car.

I have been running a ported/polished MAF for a while ... i obtained a stock one and tuned my car for it. on the dyno, the stock maf produced with 2 rwhp of the ported/polished MAF and more RWTQ.

My personal opinion is that the stocker is good enough for my measly ~400 RWHP and it's easier to tune.

So is it better to tune with the stock MAF or the ported and descreened MAF?

I'm not a fan of ported MAFS's. Descreen the stocker and use that.

Tuning is clearly your problem.
