Default How used up before new ET Drags?

I've got a set that is basically down to the wear indicators, instead of a hole there is just a slight dimple. How low do you guys run these down before replacing them? It seems like the tires are not hooking as well, but there are other factors and it's difficult to really tell. Do these tires work when worn down to the indicators? They are 26x10x15 MT ET Drags.

It depends on how they got worn to that level. Excessive heat cycling (read: too much burnout) will make the rubber harden up quickly, and make them become less effective. Most racers I know usually get about 100 passes out of a set of 26-28" slicks before they need to be replaced. You can usually go longer on a "less demanding" car, and they won't last as long on a "more demanding" car.

I've got 80 passes logged on my current slicks. There's still a good bit of rubber left, but they've started to lose their grip. I'll be purchasing two new 28x11.50x15" slicks before racing season fires up next year...

I'll agree with George here. I usually get 140-160 passes from my slicks, but my car runs 12s and i only burn them for about 3-4 seconds with a decent amount of smoke. George imitates John Force, but his car needs that kinda prep. Once you make about 80-100 runs on any car, you can start looking at them for the wear indicators to get shallow. if they are small or non-exsistent, replace them

OK I just ordered 2 new hoosier 26x10.5x15" tires. I was pleasantly surprised to find they have a diameter of 26.4", compared to 26" even on my old MT 26x10s. This should give me room to run an extra mph or two with the 4.10s in the car.

I also finally ordered a cheap fire jacket too, no more leather jacket with a VP racing sticker on the shoulder.

LOL Terry! Sticker on the leather jacket LOL!
I am going with the Hoosier 26x9x15 with the 7.5 Centerline Convo Pros. I am interested on hearing how yours work for you.
Cheers,
Chris

I used mine until I could see the elastic material in the slick or until you get flats due to rocks
