racing a BIGblock am racing a big block chevlle 72 ,,,the big block came out of an old truck and its got stock sheaved heads and 230,230 595,595 lift at 110 lsa,he got a good intake and 900 or 950 carbrter,TH350 with TCI 3700 stall,456
my mods is 02 ws6 with LTs and lid and all the free mods TCI 3600 stall,373 gears.
we will be both with slicks
am racing the guy for $2000,,
what do u all think,,do i need to do it or NOT

It depends on what year truck the engine came out of as to which heads it has on it! I would seriously doubt the guy would put a 595 lift cam with the peanut heads, I'm sure he is probably running the older oval port heads which are capable of making some good power! I see a lot of guys on here that dont want to give credit to some of the old school cars, be careful because you never know whats lurking underneath some of those carbs!!

If you have heads and cam and can hook and he's not gutted out on a huge slick then you should win IMO. Really depends, some BBC stuff runs 10's on race gas and some stuff runs 12.5's on slicks at low mph.

well we will run this weekend and i'll know,,he don't wanna race me in my car he wanna race my GF'car 02ws6, i got heads and cam, spray my best was 6.7 in the 1/8 she was running 7.9
also i got a cam(TR oldman cam) sitting in the garage it would not be that hard to put in her car.. do u all think i should do that

this guys sounds like a saferacer.
go out and embarass him about the fact that he wants to run a stock motored LS1 with a BBC. tell him to quick trying to hustle and run your car which would be more fair.
i'm just not in the habit of losing money in a race myself, there will always be variables but your situation just has too many IMO. Get him to run your car and knock his pecker off.

from my experiance, any big block with cam intake and headers is good for 12s unless the combo really sucks. i would not race anyone for that kind of money eather way. even if you are positive you can bet him, you might spin and loose anyway. also the race can be so close that it will cause a fight. i have seen it with as little as $20.
