BFGs offer better 60fts at the track, but considerably less tread life (less than 5k usually) They are also terrible in the rain, downright dangerous actually. The Nittos are usually about a tenth slower in 60fts, but are much better in rain, are V rated, and some people have reported as much as 20k tread life.

Ditto on what Pat said.

I had some BFG's a few years ago and at 3500 miles they acted like bald tires in the rain on a 74 Buick Electra.

There is a new tire that you might want to consider as well, the Toyo RA-1, which is an autocross tire but I'm told it uses the same rubber compound as the Nitto drag radial, just with a bit more tread depth. It sounds like the tire I'm gonna run, especially since it comes in a 255-50-16!!

Here is that tire:

Never really tried the BF but always used the nitto 275-50-15 and consistantly cut 1.59's to 1.63's 60's and used these tires as an everyday tire. The wear is a bit longer to....

also this depends alot on if you have a A4 or M6

if you have a A4 get nittos.. cause they will hook well at the track... im cutting low 1.6's on them.. and man they last forever

if you have a M6 get BFG's since they will hook better for you at the track

Man, that Toyo tire has a treadwear rating of 40!! I seriously doubt they would last as long as a Nitto drag radial which has a 100 treadwear rating. The nitto comes with a 6/32 tread depth. They might get awesome traction in the corners however, with the reinforced sidewalls...I doubt they would be very good for drag racing.

You can't compare treadwear ratings from one tire maker to another though. A 40 treadwear from Toyo could actually end up being the same as the 100 treadwear from Nitto. You can only compare treadwear numbers with different models of tires from the same tire maker.

From my experience if one tire is rated less than HALF the treadwear of another it will wear MUCH faster regardless of the brand. Sure there are discrepencies between different tire companys on treadwear ratings, size, etc, but it having HALF the treadwear rating and reinforced sidewalls will make it suck for street/strip use. It might have awesome cornering ability, but I'm guessing wouldn't last 5000 miles. Only one way to really find out though...

I'm sure the RA-1s will last a lot longer than 5k. I got 5k out of a set of street driven BFG drag radials, and they have a 0 treadwear rating and much less tread depth than the RA-1s.

Buy a set of take off wheels for about 50 bucks, then buy some ET Streets. Don't really like the Drag Radials. JMO.

Where can I get a set of "take off" wheels" for $50? This sounds like a good deal to me!!! And also, where do I get ET Streets? Are these made by M/T?
