Weight, gearing, shift points and Tires all play into the equation.

I'll run a worse 60' and slower MPH, yet still have a lower ET than some other cars. By 0.3 in some cases.

Why? I run higher shift points. Granted, I'm M6, but I imagine the same rules probably apply.

Besides, track times are only valid for the track and the date. It's who you can beat that is important.

I don't know what case(s) you're talking about but gearing could help to explain some of it. (Then again, maybe it was giggle gas.)

If car A was crossing the line at it's HP peak and car B was crossing well after it's HP peak and all other things were equal, car B would likely have the better ET despite a slower trap speed.

Traction...if dew settles on the track the second half of the track could be slick. I think I found this to be the case this past weekend. The car was wiggly on the big end. While my 1/8 MPH was slightly up from the last successful trip out, my 1/4 MPH was slightly down. Despite worse 60 ft times my ET was slightly better. Now on all of these things we are talking about SLIGHTLY so I'm only theorizing. Could have been things that I have no knowledge of.

yeah i'm sure some people might do that. but there are so many incosistencies that can arise. i gain 2mph in the 1/4 by locking up my converter, but my times are REALLY close, like only .04-.06 difference between locking it and not locking it. my car might be one of the ones you are thinking of. i'm on the NOS list. i run a 11.54 @ 116mph, and others are running the same times, but ALOT faster. granted i didn't lock up the converter on that run, so that might be a part of it. so do we want people to start sending in copies of their timeslips? or just still go by the honor system?

OK guys I'll give you a little help. Both cars are ten second cars with great 60ft times... With the times that are posted both made great passes. So shift points and all the rest of the stuff can be thrown out.

Again how did car B run quicker than car A with a slower 60ft and slower MPH????

track not the same distance?

i know people say Byron Dragway up here in Illinois isn't a full 1/4. not sure on that rumor though. is it possible that the other guy let off before the timing marks for speed? isn't it 66ft before the finish and 66ft after and then averages them? what if he slowed down right before or right after the line. that could explain it.

Chris you win the prize... That's the only way it could happen. When I made the post it was on a bet with someone on the reaction and explanations I wood get although the correct answer was simple.

What if the slower car has a 375ci motor and the quicker car has a 346ci motor. There must be cheating involved, eh?

Hahahaha, i was gonna say that in my first post, but i figured it was a legitimate question, and since that was obvious i didnt' say it. I mean hell, i've done it with my '97 GSX-R750, run a 10.90 at 119mph cause i hit the brakes at the end not to pass the 120mph mark that the track requires to wear a full leather suit i don't have nor do i want to spend the money for.

Reminds me of the old NFL saying... "That's why they play the game". Doesn't always make sence on paper...

If car A has a better 60ft by .01 sec and .8 more mph at the finish line than car B how does car B run .2 of a second quicker. And before you get into the convertor slippage theory most A4 cars have done there work by the 60ft mark. Ok what if car B leaves the line goes past the 60ft marker and then hits the N2O and then lets off at a 1000ft. Possible but not probable... we're talking 2 tenths of a second... that's a long way on a dragstrip especially between the 60ft beam and the finish line. Just an observation.

Question, Do you think people would on purpose send in incorrect data just so they could be on a list. Looks that way.

Well both cars can make the same hp but the quicker car can make maybe 30-40 ft lbs of tq more than the other and run a faster ET with a slower mph...correct?

That correct answer was only one of many possible answers in a real drag race that could possibly be correct. Then again that really was not why it was posted was it? "reaction and explanations" LMAO Joe, you realy love playing with Colonel's head don't you. Giving something that sounds very similar to his and Judson's situation to draw a response. You are always stirring something. LMAO Later

I do not know if it did or not, Just going from the way it looked, I haven't spoken to him since XMAS EVE. You know how it is, when someone is leading the pack a lot of false accusations get made and they get defensive about "is someone else accusing me of something". The other day (in a shootout with a mustang) he was accused of having $70,000.00 in the motor alone (THAT WAS THERE REASON FOR HIM WINNING). (LMAO) Then they went to the track owners like chevy's because the mustang RED-LIGHTED. (LMAO) And I dont know how many times I heard "HE'S gotta be spraying" that day. Anyway you understand what I am saying, I have heard him accused of so much that I am even starting to get that way.

Back in town guys! Had a GREAT time in the mountains skiing with Kelly!

For the record, I never once thought that Joe was pointing a finger at me. The case that he presented didn't seem to suggest that to me. I did, however, look through the NA 10 second list and couldn't really find a case that did fit the scenerio.

$70,000 engine?!? LOL! Yeah, that was a good one!
