It will be a race car, probably some street racing too, and your occasion cruises, grudge car, l33 s480, weight N/A at the moment, 6500-7000 rpm range. What would be more suitable for my setup ?

Being your going turbo. IMO I would go with the glide, assuming your running a 1/4 mile. 1/8th mile I would go 400. But that's just my opinion. You know your going to end up cranking the boost up. Lol Should have a lot of fun with it whatever you choose.
Best of Luck and,

Merry Christmas!!!!

Thats what a lot of people say, turbo? go glide. But yeah i mean it will be a grudge car so most likely 1/8th mile races, but either way i think youre correct, it will be fun. Just trying to figure out what will be best.
Merry christmas to you as well!!

If your mainly going to run the 1/8th. Then I would definitely go with the 400. The guys I know with turbo cars will run that lower first gear like was stated to get the turbo spooled quicker and to get their 60's down. Then they don't go as high of gear in the rear so when it goes to second it gives the turbo more time to eat. With less lag than going from low to high in a glide. And should still perform pretty well in the quarter.

yessir, main focus is the 1/8 mile but dont want to over rule the 1/4 because those are still popular in illinois where i reside. But the low first will be nice and the car has 3.27 in the rear now

A powerglide is always the best racing trany. The 400 is way too heavy and actually takes a lot of power to spin it. You will be faster with a glide and more consistent. If you check 50 REAL drag cars, no matter the power, I would bet 75% of them have glides. I also wouldn't worry about the hp you are going to make. We have glides in out Top Sportsman cars that weigh close to 3000lbs with over 1500 hp running in the 6's 1/4 mile leaving at 4k on spray. Yes they have aftermarket cases for strength. But I myself ran a stock case glide in an 1800 lb dragster with 1250hp leaving at 4k. Never broke one.

My S10 will get a glide when I rebuild the engine and try to get 900-1000hp spraying it.

I love my th400. The lower first gear allows you to run a taller rear gear, and really get some good mph out of the car in the future. If I ever blow this one up, I would probably look to do a TH210 from Rossler.

i do agree with you. Glides are in almost every drag car i see. Glides are pretty strong and it is way more consistent with only one shift

The Turboglide comes with either a 1.40 or 1.57 first gear. Probably perfect for a 1500+ HP setup.

With modest HP, or any street driving, it's like taking off in 2nd gear.

I disagree with the 1st gear being an issue really. You can get a 1.80 first gear if you want a quicker 60ft. And I know tons of guys and even myself in the past running a powerglide with about 500hp and doing great with it. Yes, your 60ft time might not be as quick with a powerglide, but with less shifting, less rotating weight and less total weight, the powerglide makes up that difference and probably a little more in the full track time.

The turbo glide is amazing but i was just joking, my setup will most likely stay 800-1000hp im thinking the powerglide is the best fit for my setup
