NFRA is all but dead

NFRA is all but dead
Too many people that want a class for this, and a class for that. Face it Chris, this is a waste of your time. If it's turnout you want:
- 1-second windows based on best time in 3 qualifying runs
- If you can't make 3 runs, then your fastest will do
- If you break out of you window, you are done!
- Doesn't matter what you car has!
- Head up, pro tree
Simple and easy. Damn, what more do you want? This is the most fair that it can be. As things stand, you will never get the turnout that you could, because the classes are too convoluted to satisfy everyone. You will get the big dogs and no one else. Period. Let the Gdamn whining begin!

I agree that thats the simplest idea. Maybe thats the ticket for the 11 and 12 second cars. But you aren't going to get the draw of the fast cars and excitment without heads up class racing. And people are going to have to accept that certain types of the Fbody make better drag cars than others, hence they will have a better chance to win.

Chris' partner, John Ryan, said that he does not agree with you.
He says that is too close to bracket racing.
He said that if NFRA is structured correctly there will be classes ranging from basically 12.5 all the way down to 8.0.

John Ryan? What does he know? Best of luck though. I don't understand wh it isn't "heads up". I'm not talking about dial-ins. Just qualify into a range, and then run the other cars within your range. Jow much more heads-up can it get?

Because anytime you set a range you have to have a breakout to keep someone from sand bagging. Then if you have a breakout someone will be either be accused of sand bagging or punished for having there best run. LOSE LOSE situation either way. If you run you best and the best time you can lose. Or on the other side you can sand bag and win if you dont have a breakout. Either way there is some shitty problems with setting ranges like that. Also note range racers like to qualify their cars a couple tenths worse than what it will do incase they cut a bad light. Range is really just a number to race for. SORRY You are only racing to get closest to a time without going over.

Hey reckless.
If you make an entire organization like what you say, then there is no incentive to build fast cars. You are stuck with a bunch of 11-14 second street cars bracket racing each other. If people even decide to come.
You can go and dial in what you want at the local bracket no-box programs every saturday evening.
I say that NFRA is not dead.
In fact, Id say that it is more alive then ever!
Heads up racing 4-life!

OK. You guys have good points. Just seems that many won't play due to their inability to find a class they can compete in (too many restictions and rules).
So basically, if your car isn't "right with the rules", and you've already modded the hell out of it, you're not likely to change everything just to get into a race.
My point is, the only ones racing will be hard core guys that have built their cars specifically for a racing class, instead of building their car the way they like it.

I'm building my car exactly how I like it. If there isn't a "specialty" class that I can compete in, then I'll just jump in brackets. It will take a lot to get me out of brackets anyways. There will be less bitching, and you have NO IDEA who the winner will be. Besides, I've grown up in brackets, so why not go with what I'm good at?

The track has yet to be decided on. You can periodically check www.nfraracing.com for updates.
