4.10 A4 track results
Best ET with the 3.23s: 11.64@116 1.72 60' time
Best ET with the 4.10s: 11.63@118 1.60 60' time
I'm a little baffled, as I picked up .12th in the 60' time (should be around .2ths in the 1/4), but it didn't materialize. My only thought is my shift points might be too low now. Things go by fast with the 4.10s and I didn't get a really good look at them.
To add insult to injury my 4.10s are now whining like crazy (they were quiet on the way to the track). I'll give the gear shop a ring on Monday and see what they can do for me. I might have to cut my loses and pay them to reinstall the 3.23s. It's too bad, I really like the way the 4.10s drive on the street. At the track I also tried a lockup switch, which was worth another .5 mph and no ET. The ST3800 converter appears to be pretty efficient, only a 10rwhp peak difference between locked and unlocked.
But, can you tell me the name of the clutch again that you suggested for the ratmobile?
At this point Money is not a oject. I'm tired of not being able to shift Dang clutch
Or anyone else
TIA
Don't give up on the gears, yet. The 4.10 really wakes these A4's up on the street. And I think they make a streetable package, unless you're into long high speed cruises. Mine tachs at around 3000 at 80 mph.
U picked up considerable et/mph in thr 1/8th.Now u need to do is get the setup working properly and u should net 2.5 tenths up top...
Dont give up on the 4.10 yet.
11.40's r just around the corner Terry
Good Luck...

Those gains are pretty consistent with what we've seen around here too. The guys are right, do some super tuning and give it one more shot. If you don't find another tenth in that, then you'll probably be just as happy with the 3.23s. Nice ET and mph by the way.

80% of your torque multiplication is comming from your converter so the gears will be less effective. Good luck though hope to see you put up some real good times soon.
Terry, I'd try Fontana before making any major changes.
Several people had strange slips there yesterday. They may have been have trouble with the timing Equipment, (or not).
Example: I got a slip that said 99mph at the 1/8, and 111 at the quarter, and the distance (660ft) was covered in 4.5 seconds. That's an average speed of 100mph. The average speed should have been ~105mph. Doesn't sound like much, except 5mph is ALOT.
I saw a couple of other people's slips that looked fishy as well.
So did you only pick up 1.5 mph with the gears, and another .5 mph by locking it up, or was that 2mph gain an apples to apples comparison?

I picked up 2mph with the gears, and another .5 mph by locking the converter up.
Regarding the numbers, I agree they are very strange. I was hoping for a 1.5th reduction in ET so I was a little ticked off. The shift points must be too low. I am loosing 2 MPH in the 1/8 and picking up 2mph in the 1/4 over my previous 3.23 times.
The 4.10s are a really fun street gear, the car is fast all the time now, and the RPMS on the freeway are not that bad. My car is really quiet, so that helps with the freeway driving. Maybe I'll look in to getting a 4.10 12 bolt. The car felt a lot better at the track with the 4.10s over the 3.23s, and launched much more consistently.

Is it possible that they didn't get set right? Or broke in long enough before launching hard on them? I ask because I'm considering the same swap.
The motor makes good power up to about 6800rpm, so I'm going to set my shift points at 6800 and give her another shot.
What tires are you running? Do you know what RPM you cross the traps at? I changed from 3.42's to 3.90 and noticed my 1/8 mph drop about 2 also...
But my top end mph went up by three. and I dropped about a tenth off my ET.

With your S2X setup u need to shift it around 6600 to 6800 to really benefit..
All u need is a good track prep and decent DA and I expect u to have a BIG smile on your face this weekend..
Good Luck
