02z in the 1/8 mile
I have searched on here a good bit for this and mabye im over looking it. Where I live the only tracks are 1/8 mile and that seems to be what everyone wants to run on the street considering they also go to the track.
What are some good mods to help the car in the 1/8 mile but also keep it fast in the 1/4.
For instance I want new gears that would work good for both. Are 3.73s good for this.
Also what should I expect my car to run in the 1/8 mile with stock tires and fairly good driver.

all the gears will do imo is give you traction problems and worse gas milage, they really dont have much affect on track times. what is your goal for the car as far as times go.

I want to be able to run low to mid 7s and keep it a daily driver. I do plan to get nitto 555r's and a converter. Is 3300 a good size for a daily driver? I understand it lets you stall higher and shift at higher rmps but if I get a diablo or something and set the shift points higher woulda 3300 do the same as higher stall with regards to shifting. I understand that when stalling it would only be around 3300 still.

I would love to beat this guy who has an old mustang with a blower and a lot of engine work. I just got my car not too long ago and was driving around town and seen a lot of nice cars so i stopped everyone was cool except he wanted to race for some money and said it was almost stock except for tires. He had bfgs on back w/ skinnys on front and I could see his boost gauge, someone told me later he run low 7s in the 1/8. I told him I woud run him from a 40 roll considering i thought he would run out of gear and his tires wouldnt help much. but he wouldnt do that. I would really like to take his money now. However I want to keep my car running fast in the 1/4 also.

Get a 3500 or better. Even though it is a 3500 or so stall it still wont stall that high. I recommend a TCI 3500 or 3800 converter. It will only stall til about 2700 before it starts to push. It will flash to 3500 before it launches though. Get a converter, tires, and Lontubes with a cutout. Then do some gears and a little shot of n2o and you will be set........
My brother has a TCI SSF 3500 and he wishes he had put it in before the the n2o

Assuming your car has 3:23 gears, I would recommend ET streets and a 3800 stall as your next mods. My car went 7.26 with a stock motor and all the bolt ons. Yank PY3800E with 3:42 gears.

There"s a ls1 Camaro that runs at our locaL 1/8 MILE track and it runs consistent 7.4 to 7.5 at around 83 mph. I know it has a cam in it but its not too big as it idles pretty smooth, also it has a weind alum. intake and et streets 26 x10 I"m pretty sure.A woman was driving it weekend before last and I ask her about the motor and she didn"t know anything about it because it wasn"t her car I noticed when she stages she holds the brake and loads the engine to about 2500 or so,car leaves pretty hard(automatic trans)I think traction(good tires)and a stall convertor would be a good start, this weekend I talked to a guy with a Mustang that ran5.7"s on slicks and he was trying some BFG Drag radials to run in street class and he spun 1st and 2nd cut a 8.3,but I don"t think he did a very good burnout!I ran my car with BFG street radials and my best 60 ft was 1.93 not great, thats with 18 lbs.GET traction first!!!! turned a 7.59 at 89.91mph,its a 81 Camaro with about 500 hp and 4 speed.3.42 gears and posi, still no traction!!!
