Default viking rears, strt fronts question regarding launch ...

car= 02' trans am stock suspension / stock power. ok so i've decided to go with viking da's on the rear, just wondering if strt's on the front would negatively affect my launch OVER/VERSUS stock fronts? sure they will hinder performance versus any front drag shock, but my question is will it hurt me at all to put strt's in the front (w/stock springs) versus stock shocks with 140k miles on them? i was thinking the strt's would be a bit stiffer to a negative effect as far as launching ... but any advice/experience appreciated.

The STR-T shock will not help you, for sure. The best thing to do is get the matching shock package for the front and then you can expect performance to be on par with a car setup with the correct combo of parts.

Give us a call, we have the best deal on shocks from Afco, Strange, and Viking, and the expert tech help to get you hooked up an fast!

yea that sounds about right. i'll start with viking rears & stick with stock fronts until i can afford the viking fronts. only asked cause i have strt's front & rear that, luckily, due to my change in priority/preference i ended up not installing!

Just sell them to offset the cost of Viking fronts.

Honestly if I had the cash I'd do Vikings front and rear. I think this is the best package for the money at the present.

totally agree.... i'm getting rears within next 2 or 3 weeks then fronts as soon as i can. nothing but postive reviews & feedback about them handling excellent on the street & kicking *** at the strip. these are, i'd say, a bite the bullet be broke for a little while worth it for the life of your car type mod! especially if you like to go to the strip once or twice a month!

ill take mwc's advice & go fronts first then! about the same time (next 30-60 days) i'll be getting viking fronts, lightweight battery, hoosier dr's, p&p'd tb (ls6 intake, hawks lid & homemade ftra already in place), & a custom made 3 to 3.5 inch y that will bolt on at the stock manifolds where it meets the cats (i.e. i can bolt on & off with ease in order to stay legal in cali with cats whenever necessary) & dump right before the rear axle. will remove front sway bar at the track also. i'm just looking to hit 13.0 or possibly 12.9 with this setup ... yall think that's possible?

Sounds good!

We have a specific combo of parts that are proven to work and we sell a huge amount of the Viking, Strange, and Afco shocks.

FWIW to all here the front shock setup on the 4th gen cars with these types of shocks are always adjustable ride height and have several selections of both spring heights and rates. The rear shocks are standard in a smooth body from Viking and Strange, all Afco and Menscer shocks are threaded body type that can be used with or without a spring(coil-over).

MWC has been doing rear coil-over conversions on there cars for a very long time and have the correct combo of parts to get the performance you need!

Give us a call and we will be happy to assist anyone with any suspension or shock setups... the best tech help and prices!
