Default Something wrong?

Not sure where to put this thread, but mods can move it of in the wrong place.
So, just finished up a lq4 build, that is stock bottom end, with ported/polished 243 heads. Had Martin@Tick spec me a cam. LS6 intake, 42lb injectors, all bolts ons, long tubes. Running a th350 with 4.10's and a FTI36-3800 converter. Nitrous Outlet plate kit 150hp shot.
Car is full weight, with 3 way adj rears, lca's and got some qa1 r series to go up front. Also have racestars skinny up front with 27x11.5x15 qtp's.
So I took the car to the track tonight and it ran best of 7.80's on motor, and 7.10's on 150 shot with 6 degrees pulled. Sixty ft times were high 1.70's on nitrous. Track was not optimal, but does it seem like the car should be running better than this??? This is almost identical to the old setup which was stock ls1 with 853 heads ans just a cam and nitrous.
Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Yeah somewhat, but it wasn't just blowing them off the rim.

On your old setup, was it dead hooking when it ran similar times?

Pretty similar I would say. The main track we go to isn't very good, went to a "good" track last year and picked up a tenth on 60ft. Even then it was only 1.60's with the same setup as above, except with the ls1. Had the same trans, converter, etc.. I just hear of guys who seem to be pulling 40's with stockish ls1's and stalls..

MPH would tell us more than ET.
Why are you using the phrase "ported and polished"? If the guy doing the work said that it would worry me.
Was it retuned for the mods?

Mph was 98 on the nitrous pass. I guess I should've said the heads were/are CNC ported. It has been retuned for everything. Could possibly benefit from a different tuner, but this guy does several, and he seems to have the idle right, and it drives good with no surging etc..not saying there might be some left in it power wise though

I guess I should also mention that I am not real sure the best launch for the car. I do not have a trans brake so I usually just try to stall it almost to where it's pushing the car. Maybe leaving off idle would flash the converter harder and make it leave better? Just seems that even with a semi crappy track, it should pull way better 60's than what it does.

When I run on half *** track prep it seems my car will hook better if I don't stall it as high as I can. I'll hold it at 1500-2000rpm and stab the gas from there, dead hooks every time and that's on a 26" drag radial. Also, it is important that you get the tune sorted out, as this is why you aren't seeing the gains you had anticipated.

Looked back at one of my slips, I did manage to get a 1.69 60ft on a 7.10 pass. Could the tuner be that far off that it's slowing the car down? What would you guys "think" I should be seeing as far as track numbers?

I would say something is going on with your car. When I had my stock 91K mile untouched 98 LS1 with LS1 intake, headers/Y pipe, lid, stall, TH 400, 3.70 gear at 3,660 lbs. it would run low 1.50's 60 foot times and 7.60's NA on a normal track and 7.50's NA on good tracks with good air. This was with the stock K member and stock shocks/springs upfront and on the back. The car also had stock sway bar on the back. Full weight plus more.

The stock engine put out 320 HP through the stock trans, convertor and 3.23 gears before I changed to the TH 400, stall and 9 inch with 3.70 gears. I am sure it lost some HP after the power train change but it performed better due to the stall and gear upgrades.

Do you know what the DA was while you were at the track?

I don't know what the DA was off hand, but it was pretty muggy/warm last night. We are about 5-600' elevation, and temp was prob in the 70's maybe? Not like running in Denver or anything.

I wasn't, but can try to get some if it would help. May be a week or so before I can get it hooked back up to hp tuners

Not sure right off hand, would have to ask the tuner. I guess I need to log a few pulls and somehow post them here for you guys to look at
