Colonel, still chippin' away....
Nice night. Cool, dry, 30.2 barometer, gentle wind mostly from the side but sometimes also from the rear.
The track wasn't hookin' so well which is usual on test-N-tune nights but I tried to make the best of it. I loosened up the extension on the rear Afcos (man these things are SWEET) as much as they would go and I added back the rear spring cushions. Jay Billingsley and I thought that this would allow a little better axle/body separation. I knew after last weekend that my initial hit off the line was soft and I needed some traction. It worked. 1.41 was the 60 ft time. It's not my best, I'm not happy with it at all, but it IS better than last weekend's best of 1.43. This combined with the good weather landed me a new best.

I want 9.7s with this hydraulic cam!

Are you running the Afco's all the way around? Are they worth the extra $$$ over the Hal/QA1 setup?

Kick ***.... man I'm glad your keeping at it. I hear you on the traction issue. If you can get some killer traction. Your times will improve.
Keep at it amigo. Your goals are within reach!
(man I like reading your stories)
P.S., thanks for the kind words.
Bring that rig to Houston for a mini-vacation, you will HOOK here!

Hmmm...I really could use a vacation!
The brake was working on that pass. It worked about the first 3 passes and never worked again. Man that thing has turned out to be one major headache. I kinda wish I had a 3.06 1st gear again so I wouldn't have to rely on the T-brake. BTW, best 60 ft last night without the T-brake was 1.43. Best 60 ft time ever with this tranny without the T-brake was a 1.40. This tells me there is ALOT more to be gained once I get it sorted out.
It wouldn't have mattered if the T-brake had continued to work though, the track kept getting worse after that. Too many pickup trucks dropping red clay on the track. Ask Tums about it. They do VHT the track before the TNT session (I assume) but they never put anymore down after that. TNT starts at 6:00 but I usually don't get there until 8:00-9:00. By then the VHT is going and the track is dirty.
I need a two-step (got one on the way! Thanks Harlan. ), a working T-brake, and some traction! Then we'll see some mid 1.3s or better.
I was running the Afcos on the rear only last night and last weekend. The fronts will be installed this week. Are they worth the extra money over Hals? Too early to say for sure but I think they will be for me.
I'll give you a call Jay.
