11.NO!!!
Being the first T&T session of the season at Texas Motorplex, it was PACKED! The gates opened at 9 and TT's were to start at 10, yet there were already LONG lines in the staging lanes at 9:15. I knew there was going to be a lot of waiting. Just about everyone with an LS1 was there, waiting to take advantage of the awesome air.
I finally make it through the never-ending staging lanes, and I pull into the water box. I roll onto dry pavement and light up the new Hoosiers. I give them a good burn and pull to the line. I'm up against a red C5 with a cage. It was apparent why he had the cage after making the run. I pre-stage and wait for the C5 to do the same. I bring the RPM's up to 1,300 and wait for the tree to drop. I nail it on the 3rd yellow, and this is the result:
60': 1.664
330': 4.865
1/8: 7.614
MPH: 88.93
1,000': 10.009
1/4: 12.040
MPH: 111.13
The run felt solid, but I knew there was more there. The car hooked really well for the first 15' or so and then broke loose a little. The track was still warming up, so it was expected. I knew that a good launch would put me in the 11.9's! I had .1 on the C5 through the 1/8th, but then he decided to toggle. He ran an 11.77 @ 121.37 MPH.
My car seems to always get some KR, so I hooked ATap up for the next pass. I ran the gas tank dry driving to the track, and my original plan was to get 3 gallons of 100 octane unleaded at the track. I lost .1 in the 1/4 and 1.5 MPH from excessive knock two weeks ago, and a few gallons of race gas cured it. I get to the friggin' fuel station, and he didn't have any unleaded! I was pissed; what's the point of having a fuel station if you don't have fuel? He told me to drive down the road and get some octane booster. LOL! I had to make do with the 93 pump gas, and I was hoping it would be enough.
After waiting two hours in the lanes, I pull into the water box again. I burn 'em and pull to the line. The tires didn't spin at all, yet the 60' was crap:
60': 1.685
330': 4.913
1/8: 7.673
MPH: 88.58
1,000': 10.079
1/4: 12.115
MPH: 110.66
I knew it wasn't going to be an 11-second pass as I glanced down at ATap during the pass. My KR was at 4 degrees! I'm hoping that's why the 60' fell off like it did, considering it hooked up completely. More than frustrated, I called it a day. The lines in the staging lanes were even longer than before, and people were STILL coming through the gates. It really sucked that I couldn't get a solid pass because I had my raceweight down to 3,505#. It was just an empty fuel tank w/ the lightweight Convo Pros and tires.
I managed to run .19 faster than my previous best, but it was still disappointing for me. The Motorplex is running another T&T two weeks from today, so I'm going to go back out and try it again. I'll be sure to bring my own fuel, too. Even if they have unleaded race gas I'll go somewhere else. They rip people off at $5.75/gallon! It was nice to put some faces with the names, and it was great to see some other LS1's running some great ET's. "The BeaSSt" was out there with some new stuff, but I'll leave that to David and Stephen to tell. I did watch it run a 10.47 @ 128.5 MPH on its first pass, though. Hopefully we'll hear from them later.

Damn Peter, that really sucks! I thought it was you that was heading out there when I was coming back into Dallas. There was a SOM WS-6 heading towards Ennis on I-35E. I was wondering why you weren't out there. A Hallsville trip sounds kind of nice, so long as they don't get strict on the no cage bit. They run every Sunday starting tomorrow.
whens everyone else gona post their times?? anyone run impressive?

Joe - Those are what you call mad writing skillz. Admit it old man, you're just jealous.
BTW Pat, Tony's KR box is a good idea. I might have to invest in one of those. I won't be able to make it out to the shootout on Feb. 23rd because I'm leaving w/ my dad on the 22nd for a week of SCUBA diving. I do appreciate the offer to stay at your place, though.

Congrats on your 11! At least one of us got there! You're flat-out screaming w/ the Vig 2800. I might make a trip over to Red River Raceway next Saturday to run w/ the Louisiana guys for the day. It's only three hours over, the track is AWESOME, I can make as many passes as I want, and they're lack on tech!

12.029 on bolt-ons before I starting going to into the motor. That was a year ago and I was pumped to get into the 12.0s. You spoiled guys with your '01/02s, bitching about a new best.
Congrats on a new best, and I understand your frustration over the KR.

Ragtop - Hey, I can't get satisfied w/ the performance. If I do I'll quit pushing for better ET's. I just might have to try Tony's KR box so I won't have to worry w/ race gas on a stock LS1.
Loco - You only have quicker to go!
Could you borrow or buy a set of new slicks for your next try at the 11's?
If you get that 60' down your car will surely respond favorably.
Good luck and that was a great write up. Thanks for sharing.
You could always throw a Wolfe swaybar on and drop .06 off your 60'.
Good luck Trev
