Default Battery relocation worth it?

Right now all my interior is out for the cage and kirkeys so i figure if I'm gonna do it I should now but with all the added cables is it really worth moving it to the back or am I better off just going light weight battery. I'm running a iron block now as well.

Well worth it IMO. More room under the hood which is nice for mounting other things like catch cans etc. You get that little bit of weight off the front end and put it on the back tires which helps for load transfer. And secondly for what you pay for lightweight batteries, Id rather have the piece of mind of a full size battery that I know will crank the engine over every time I turn the key. I got pushed off the starting line because of a LW battery and after that I had to draw the line lol. I've had the same optima battery sitting in the back of my car for 8 years and its still getting the job done

Mine works perfect, as well as a bunch of other people. I'd stay front mount and go lightweight.

Moving the battery to the rear is said to be like moving the engine back 2-3"....Worth it IMHO

I'm very happy with my battery relocation, but I guess it would depend on what you use your car for. strictly drag your better off using a lightweight battery but if you have a decent stereo and want a tad better weight distribution then relocate.

I don't know if anyone has really done any back to back testing to see if the battery relocation does anything for your sixty foot times, but I agree that it does provide you with a BUNCH more room in the engine bay. I would say that if you are putting a cage and kirkeys in the car... why have you not relocated the battery already? lol

Only stereo in the car is the stock head unit and door speakers. The rest is gone. It's basically a racecar I still street drive. I drive 2 hours to the track and 2 hours back. Only accessories are line lock and 2 step and maybe nitrous one day. What's the best method to move it. Buy everything separately or get one of the fbody relocation kits.

Make your own. Go to a welding supply store and get your 1/0 welding cable there.

It won't save any weight, but will move the weight to the back for better transfer.

Keep in mind to pass tech you will need a visible external manual cutoff, which may be an issue if its a street car that you don't want to cut up.

NO, unless you need the room for something else like turbo pipe. Get yourself a lithium battery, save some weight, and don't mess with rewiring the car or a cut off switch for that matter.

It ADDS weight would have been the correct wording in this instance.

agree & 01ss helped talk me out of it too ... lightweight & keep it in front. rear relocation too much unnecessary hassle & heavy 1 guage wire. i went with a $37 9lb battery off ebay & some gm specific adapters which fit stock terminals directly to the smaller agm terminals.
