Default Screwing radial tires

I bought a set of rims awhile back with m/t radial tires on the back. The guy i bought them put screws in the rear tires . The last few times i went to the track and tech warned me about screwing radial tires, he said you can with bias tires just not with radials. So is this true ? i dont have a problem getting bead locks i just dont know if i have to. Im getting ready for my nhra inspection and certification so i dont want to make the trip twice, thanks

Pull the screws, mark the tires and the rims with a marker... run at the track. If the tire is moving then consider beadlocks
