Gears for high HP m6
Gears for high HP m6 I have a 445 that makes 570/535 and plan on spraying a 200 shot. I have a 9" with 3.50 gears. Don't plan on changing the gears because I'll eventually go automatic I imagine. Just curious if anyone has any experience running fairly high NA power with a six speed and high gears. Oh and the car has 295/55/15 radials.

I had a 6-speed car before that made 610rwhp on spray and went 6.20 to the 1/8 and 10.20@134 to 1/4. 1.4x 60fts. I used a 4.10 gear, 28x10.5 tire. I feel I could have got away with a 4.30 gear in my setup and kept it under 7,000 rpm on my stock bottom end car. Your car should be much faster on spray. Not sure if this info will help you out.

Yeah I sprayed the last setup with 100 shot a few times as well with the 4.10's. Gonna be close to 800rwhp with 200 pills. Figure the 3.50s and 28" tires should give me plenty of rpm.
You're good for ~157 mph @6600rpms going thru the traps if those tires are 28.0" diameter.
I've been 148+mph with my n/a 388ci. street setup with the m6 and 4.10 gears on a 25" dr but we had the limiter up at 8600rpms.

Your gear size will be determined once you decide what type of tire. The over height and transmission type. Stall speed factors in. Think of gearing as something to help dial in the car. To me gear it based on what your primary use.
If I ended up with a 28 inch tall tire I would have ran 4.56 and not care as it would knock it down to a reasonable street rpm.
Edit: Just to add at this point. A good gear calculator should give you most of the answers your looking for aside from Seat-of-the-pants experience.
