26" vs. 28" tire?
Any modifacations to get them to not rub?
Also this if for a 15x8" rim.I have 26" ET Streets on now but want to go to a full slick.Maybee Hoosier.
Thanks

Looks like I am getting some of those 28's that Jay just mentioned (from Jay), since my car is marginally hooking up on my 26x11.5x15 ET Streets.
Last time out I cut a 1.51 but the shift points were low, next three passes I cut a 1.55, 1.53 and a 1.54 spinning about five feet on all those runs.
I think 1.4's are possible on a 28" Hoosier.
Thanks for the reply.Right now I have 26x10.5x15 ET Streets and 3.42's.If I change to 28x10x15 Hoosier Slicks and 3.73's that is roughly the same overall gearing right?I think 60ft times would be more consistant.I think that would be the better combonation. Also under Coming Soon!
The future of F-Body Drag Suspension! What are you building a torque arm and mount? When will that be available?I'd like to get my Random Tech torque arm off my trans mount.
PSJ,
Unfortanatly I only got to the track 2 times last year and one of them I broke my driveshaft on the first pass.I am going to be changing blower pulleys and am hoping for 18 psi. and 700rwhp.I think I am going to need the extra tire and maybee a TH400 soon
Thanks guy's

How much back spacing do y'all recommend on the wheels?
I want to run a 28" tall E.T. drag.

John, I run 28x10.5 ET Drags on 15x10 (7.5" BS) Draglites with no problems...

George, so you think a wheel with 6.5" of BS would stick out or be a brake problem?
I am thinking, that they would stick out.

There gonna stick out 1" or so. Richie Carbone can probably chime in here, as one of his buddies had the 15x10 6.5BS combo on his car. They didn't stick out a huge amount, but they weren't tucked in like my 7.5BS wheels...
Do u think a 28X9 will hook a 430RWP setup?
I'm really thinking of stepping up to 27X10.5X15 Hoosier QTP on 15X10's?Anyone run these?R they as good a real BOOT?I curently run 26X10X15 ET Drag.

A 28x9 slick on an 8" wheel would work fine. As long as you have adequate horsepower and are geared properly, a 28" tire will net better results than a 26" tire since you have a larger contact patch and more sidewall.
As far as the Hoosier QTP's go, that 27x10 size you mention is going to be a little small on a 10" wide wheel. DOT tires are measured a little differently than a slick, so that 10" wide tire is actually less than that. That tire would probably be better on the same 8" wheel you mentioned above.
I think you be moving backwards going from a 26" slick to a 27" DOT tire. I doubt the QTP would have the traction of a true slick... I can speak from experience about the difference between a 28x10.5 ET Drag and a 28x13.5 ET Street. The slick is hands down better. A lot will depend on your particular setup/suspension, and how hard you hit the tires initially though... Just food for thought.
I'm making 420 to 430 RWHP
The car will weigh about 3500lbs
Do u think going to a lower gear like a 4.10 and running the 28 would be better or 3.90's/26X10X15 combo shold be fine?
JS
I think the 28x9 with a 4.11 gear would work the best in your case and be VERY consistent. Not only do you have more sidewall but you have better rollout as well. Just figure out what gear you need according to your powerband. I think 4.30s with a 28x9 inch slick and a 6600rpm shift point would work great on your car and be very consistent!
Chris
Do you think the new 28x10x16 inch Hoosier slick will tuck under properly using the stock 16 inch rim?
I am ordering these tires and am wondering how they will work.
Thanks,
Chris
